One of my characters can't seem to cook more then 225g of meat a day...what happen?, is this an error on my part?

No error at all. I'm afraid that is what an oven will cook at one time. There might be ways to increase this, but you would have to find that out in game, of course. :P

No, but i use to be able to cook whatever i wanted, like before i could cook to get 1000g of cooked meat, but now all i can get is 200g of cooked meat, there no choice like before, what happened?

He is talking about the multiplier, I would say talk to Anthony about this, he fixed it for the smelter.

Yeah i thought it was pretty weird as well, i used to be able to cook alot of meat in the ovens, large enough so they last for at least 2 weeks.. but now its reduced all of the sudden?

(by last i mean the project last for that long)

This is not a mistake.
The purpose of having most cooking projects not be multiplyable is to simulate chars having to prepare meals and get the ovens set up for cooking each time.
It's a minor way to complicate the food industry, since it was decided awhile back that food is too easy to get in Cantr, and the various solutions/suggestions posed over time all would require programming, grid systems, major changes to the farming system, or something else that is not likely to happen for a long time.

Some kinds of food projects will still be multiplyable, due to a balance issue.

But only being able to cook 500g of wheat flour at a time seems a rediculously small project when before I was cooking up to 10k at a time. Such small projects make it very hard to keep things going when there are lots of people working. Arg, this really sucks.

I agree, Genevieve. I run a bakery (not saying where... those who I've told should know) and it's a pain to only have that little amount of bread cooking at once. I started large projects before on a couple of the ovens, and now, i can't start anything larger than that 500g, or whatever it is. It is a hinderance on business, as well.

I don't like the change....don't like it at all.

This does seem very strange.
While it is true that getting food in Cantr is somewhat easy, cooked food is not ussually the main culprit, since it requires multiple steps.
I agree that some foods are too easy, things like potato and carrot harvestors, the bring in 32 to 40 meals per work day, are almost silly. The fact that people can live on nothing but raw potatos is also silly.

On the other hand, the oven was an area where you require multiple processes to get food - meat required killing an animal and having a fuel source and the oven.

I would say return the oven to larger projects, but make raw food less easy to get. This would be more realistic. You could think of ovens as commercial ovens, which can cook a lot in a continous mode.

Alternatively, make a new class of oven, much like the distinction between the primitive smelter and the normal one, perhaps there can be a difference between a normal oven and a commercial grade oven.

I think that the more complicated oven projects, like bread, pizza and such, should be returned back to thier old mulitpiable state. Meat, however, should be kept lowered as it is now.

I've seen to many forests where there has been one person who had a shovel or trowel and made firepits and ovens ages ago, and now the how forest just lives off the animals in thier location, never travelling, never trading, just hunting and gathering wood to cook thier product. It's bad for trade.

Smaller meat projects will lead to larger forest populations getting hungry, and having to trade and travel for alternative foods.

What is interesting is that I will present an exactly opposite argument.

I have a character that lives in a highly populated area, with potatos. Absolutely everyone eats potatos, and no one travels for food.

In that same town, my character cooks lots of meat. It is not even half as efficient to get as potatos, where he can get 16 or 32 meals, depending on if he is using his pitchfork, or if he gets on the harvester. Meat uses wood up, and only 8 meals are generated per day. Not very good if that was its only redeeming value.

However....that meat is used to facilitate trade, as it is used for travelling colleagues going on trade and resource trips. Since the meat is so dense, it is used so that the traders and resource gatherers have more room for their resources when they travel.

So, in that case, being able to cook large amounts of meat is facilitating trade.

To be clear, the rates are the same, right? If I understand correctly, this is a 'player annoyance' based mechanism to make it a royal pain in the butt to cook large amounts of food.

That's just silly.

I'm going to move this to Gen. Disc.

If it's silly, whats the problem with just turning it back? Or just making it a bit bigger yield then it is now.
