Aren't the character names being controlled anymore? Seems I can have any name to my character....

Before my character called Fancy Carrot was repelled, no reaction now...

Isnt it Bcause u coaldnt create new char's first? and now u van? in never had any name refused, no matter how strange

I see a lot of strange names anyway.

I mean before, when it could take a day before you could use your new character.... The players' department or something like that reviewed personally all the new character names, and repelled the very strange ones. They don't seem to do that anymore.

Guess not. I have but a few normal names, rest are all fun names.

In the past we wanted to have control about the character names, because some people wanted to use inappropriate, abusive or hateful names. That is why we wanted to approve all of the names of the new characters. But the moment we switched to dynamic names, there is no use anymore to control the names. Because the name you have in the game is the name all the others give to you (by the dynamic naming). So therefore we stopped the control system.

Perhaps they should check them first. I have seen a couple of distasteful names being used. Can cause some offense, actually one did spark lots off ooc comments in game.

Like wim van de Griendt said, the names are given to you. So if someone tells you his name is Pile of sh*t or something like that, u can call him 'weirdo with an attitude"...

Since it is dynamic you can also change your own name.

Not that any of my chracters move around and change thier name when doing so to avoid certain situations.

On a more pratical note I always have a temp name for new spawns and don't name myself until I read the notes. Don't want to be "Archon the angel of Death" in a peaceful place.

Do you mean that when u change your name in the menu, the people who named u also get this new name? Didn't think so, that'd B too easy.

And I didnt even want to be named "Archon the angel of Death" in an EVIL place.

It just changes it for you. Your chracter list. And by coincidence the order you are listed on the people page.

WEll, back to the "don't return to the crime scene". Amazing how some people give u all sorts of stuff and don't even go after you when leaving the place.

hehe! I met fancy carrot today, I was in histerics!! I think it is a good idea to allow such names it keeps a humour about the game!!

since it's Dynamic. They could tell the PD their name is Cindy Wetherford. (Completely random name picked) Then go online and immediatly change it to Pil of sh*t.

yes, but just like in RL you don't have to call them that....they could be anything to you

I was just thinking, when children get introduced how do you think that will change naming? will parents name their kids, or do you think they'll just wait until the kid can talk or whatever?
