Ok tell me an item in cantr and I will tell you how much it weighs in real life. I will start off with some basics.

Stone hall = 110 pounds

Cottage = 22 pounds

A primitive smelting furnace = 13.2 pounds
800 grams of potatoes = 1.76 pounds
400 grams of carrots = .88 pounds
What kind of car?

So... this topic exists to convert grams into pounds? Sounds more regressive than anything else.
Note: the metric system is sometimes used in real life. Grams are a real-life measure of mass.

But do you know your weight in Kg? Or the weight of anything else (do not say "a liter of water")? In europe people probably do, but in the US most don't.

Welcome to the internet. This is a communication device that spans the globe letting people talk to other people from many different nations.

Just cause us americans still use the english system of measurements after the english themselves have stopped using it doesn't make us any better...

Yes I know, I was bored and was going to wait till someone said that, but anyways all it really is, is 1 kg = 2.2 pounds, or close enough, not go off topic :P.

I'm not American, but I'm -pretty sure- they made their own system, Imperial, to use, while the rest of the world uses Metric. American's are like that, they want to stick out.

::gets a little confused:: ... The English made that system, right?, not the Americans :) ... It's the British Empire, hence 'Imperial', not 'dollar imperialism' that created the term ;) ...

And aside from that ... Cantr is an international game, hence follows the international standard. That Americans don't, is not my concern ;) ...

Well, Jos, I'm not as wise as you are ;) - I know nothing about the Americans or English, I never paid attention in History class... So I'm wrong, pfft, they should change to Metric, just so that it's all universal with the rest of the world...

Yha, at least something good came out of france.

America's money system is based off the metric system, pennies, dimes, dollars. Ever try to figure out how many quid in a pound?

Metric is more presice, easier to use, and just makes more sense. We americans are just stuck on our national pride. It would be UN-AMERICAN to use anything but ENGLISH measurements in ENGLISH converstion over lunch.

Screw the metric system. Dinosaurs like me are too set in our ways to adopt a completely new measurement system. Besides, metric tools don't work on my cars, they are all SAE sized bolts.

They tried to teach the metric system to us as a part of the curriculum in my eighth grade of school. That was back in '72. The experiment failed miserably, since none of the parents had a clue what we were talking about.

I much prefer to weigh my usual 205 pounds rather than 92.98 kilos. Hell, I'd even rather weigh 14.6 stone, than 92.98 kilos.
