Tool Frustration

Anyone find it terribly annoying when most of the things people want to built/make require those annoying tools that are made out of wood and iron, in towns where iron and wood are practically non-existant, and where no traders ever appear?

many times, then in order to make it you have to travel years to get iron , then you get back and someone has already found a faster way and done it  .. uh.. ya... i have been there

I've got a character in veggin utopia. NO WOOD, METALS, JUST VEGGIES!!! Someone was kind enough to give her just enough materials for a stone hammer. She was so proud when she finished her hammer. She couldn't wait to use it. She walked over to a buffalo, and * :x WTF :x * she still has only her bare fists to hunt with. A damn field filled with more than 250+ buffalo, and I can't kill a GD one of them  . NOW THAT'S TOOL FRUSTRATION!!!

Personally, I think every inventory item in Cantr should be able to be used as a potential weapon, but then that could just be my military side talking. COME ON FOLKS, IT'S A HAMMER :? !

And your character isn't familiar with these things called 'roads' that most of us use to get to resources?

Metals can be a pain to get, but that just is an encouragement not to be totally asocial. If you are becoming frantic for lack of wood, you have a serious problem, and it isn't the game design. Not that it couldn't be appropriate for some characters, but really...

Just work harder than you are. Several of my characters have or are working on iron and steel production. One of which lives in a place with no veggies. I heard in Karnon Fields they traded veggies for iron ore. Places like Mts have no food, but have raw resources.

And plus, vegetables are good for you.

And as Industriallist said, take the roads gdamnit.

Yeah Karnon fields trades veggies for iron ore, and i must agree with them, try taking the roads to a different area to get metals and wood.

oh no. don't travel around and look for the resources. That makes to much sence. Just sit there like a knot on a log. Now that makes no sence so lets do that one.

I personally like that iron is scarce in some places and that other resources are scarce in others. It gives my characters different goals to attain. One of them preffer not to have iron or other rare resources. He feel it's a waste of space. He needs more important things. While my other character lives for iron. It's the foundation on what he works on. It makes his business boom and makes him look rich. 8)

Why do you need iron and wood? You should be grateful you have food to live, iron and wood aren't really needed to live, it's food you need. I don't see what everyones problem, I can live with no iron. (Maybe it's coz I iz in da ghetto. J/K)

Hey... hey... hey... HEY! I'm not against travelling, and ya'll missing my point by about 45 degrees.

1. Made a stone hammer to kill buffalo  .
2. Tried to kill buffalo with stone hammer  .
3. Stone hammer not avialable for killing anything :x , only bare fist.
4. Stone hammer + buffalo = :x TOOL FRUSTRATION :x

What's a hammer used for?
A hammer is used to pound stuff.

What's one way of killing something?
One way of killing something is to pound it to death.

It would be nice to give some compatability for most tools to have weaponary capabilities, as was mentioned before. I'm definetly not against that. Of course something like a stone hammer costs less than a billy club so it should be less effective. Of course, a complete overhaul, or going back to how it was, not a half assed one, of the weapons/shields in cantr would be nice.

Let them have their stone hammer, and after 2 uses in combat, the stone falls off and then another 2 days to make a stone hammer again.
