Concealable weapons/tools (was: Yay, new feature!)

Postby The Industriallist » Wed Aug 18, 2004 8:20 pm

Warning: a new feature has been programmed and will soon be implemented which makes it possible for characters to see big objects in the inventory of other characters nearby. This means that most weapons, shields, big tools, etc. will be visible to outsiders ...

:D :D :D :D

This is good. I think. Though it does make a big change from the previous environment of total privacy.

Resources will soon be adding this to the objects we deem to be visible, so soon you should start noticing things on people. If there are things you think should be visible, but aren't, you can post on suggestions. I'm pretty happy with Jos about this right now too.

TJ was so happy with Jos, that he kissed him. I seen it.

Speaking of the New Feature, I must point out that -currently- (This will probably change), if you hold more than one item of something that's set to be visible, you will see "Item, Item, Item, Item, and Item" instead of "Item 5x" or similiar. Just a minor setback, it's not gonna kill ya or nothing.

Currently, nothing is really set to visable, so refrain from suggesting yet. "Oh! The Iron Shield isn't visable! I know this guy has one, I can't see it, make it visable". Responce: "We're GETTING there! Just sit back and wait, holy cow!" :P

I just hope that there remain some useful weapons small enough to escape notice. Gives a whole new validity to the dagger, say...

Here comes another of those upheavals of society resulting from game rule changes...

Oh no, one of my characters made a crossbow and lives where it is illegal to make steel weapons. I hate those laws, characters need to be armed and the one I'm talking about travels a lot; she needs the protection. That character is a pretty good person, too, I hope she doesn't get in trouble.

What would constitute 'in trouble' for someone with a crossbow? Unless you give them a chance to lock you up, you can fight anyone on at least equal terms.

But she is friendly and wouldn't want to hurt the sheriff that might lock her up. If worse comes to worse, she's got a locked house...they would have to go through three locks to get her.

I logged in this afternoon and read the nitoce and jumped for joy. This is so awsome! I don't think the game needs to advance really just be improved so that it's more real than it is.
As I suggested once b4 that making ur char actually sleep would be good to put into the game also. But thats a different topic.

Now this way you need to be more stealthy than we're used to. It brings a whole new perspective to the game. heh, sneaking daggers past gaurds and stuff! SO COOL!
Thank you to all the ppl who worked on it. :D

Just to be a pain to the people who worked on this...

It would be nice if certain clothes increased the size of object that you can hide. I bet you could conceal a lot more under a fur cloak than on your naked body.

This would also give a practical reason for clothing. It lets you hide more 'toys'

I believe this is already planned, and in the programming stages. (It's actually being WORKED ON, not ON A LIST! Oh my GOD! Horray!)

This would be great. It would probably be the only reason my chars. make clothes. All the clothes they wear were given to them because I thought it would be a waste of time to make clothes unless you wanted it for more rp with a mate. :D

They do also serve as status symbols...They are, or were, the only property that could be displayed easily. A diamond ring is a pretty impressive item.

Well, waste of resources like I said. I would have used the diamond on a drill or something(unless it was for sentimental reasons not just for show)

I just got a pair of iron earrings. My character loves them because the reason they were given but if it was up to me I would have melted it down and used that iron for something useful.
