Getting killed / in danger over stupid little things

Ok, I fear one of my characters may be in lethal danger. And all she did was use a firepit. (Since when did those turn into private property?) As always (well, second time) I try to roleplay her out of trouble but there are many buts. What if the other people don't like roleplaying, just PKing? What if I'm asleep when something important happens? I can't spend my whole day on the computer.

Perhaps you should have read notes about a law against using some stuff :D

If there wasn't something like that, and they want to kill you, it doesn't matter that your online or offline when it happens.
Somethings are inevitable, and death is one of them.

There were no laws posted. Well, at least I have an iron shield but damn me if I've made the wrong decision. You know, it would take several hits to take her down, but if they can drag her behind a locked door then hunger would eventually do the job for them. At the moment I don't think there's enough people outside for dragging but if things are getting too threatening, I'll run like hell (that's if I'm online).

Paranoia/extreme caution. A vital survival skill for cantr characters. Some have it. Some get lucky. The rest die young. One of my characters has made that his first principle of life...
Just being extremely submissive could substitute, I guess. I should try a character like that sometime.
Or you could take the path of the timid, and settle down to spend your entire life in one town where you aren't considered a stranger.

If they just wanted to kill you without any kind of RP, they wouldn't care about the firepit...just "oh, look: fresh meat!" and then the sabres (or bows)

Discussing this matter so detailed would actually be wrong, because of the 4-day rule. I guess the people there can now read you have an iron shield :P

But perhaps you can persue the people there with your female charmes lol

Well thats not to say, it could be a male character, and perhaps the extremist fire pit hoggers are ... maleophobic or something.

Yeah, the Cantr extremes do get to me sometimes, especially *coughs* the hoarding of machines not in usage. *kicks specific AkiJekoilaStavorn char*

But the killing gets excessive.

I'm still ticked off that my sabre/iron shield character in a rather civilized place was taken down and killed when I was away for doing nothing (literally) by a pothead.

Yeah I don't think the first person is so bad, just protecting her property. But the other one... :? Ok, he ran out and shot at four people, of which one had nothing to do with the incident, and the other was the first person's friend, I have no idea of the discussion that happened inside before but I can guess.
Girl: "Hey, I just saw someone using our fire pit and I told her not to do that again."
Guy: "That's bullshit, lets go kill all strangers!"
Hello, logics, where are you??? *Rolls her eyes.* The only logical explanation is that the guy doesn't know what the heck is going on, just likes hunting humans.

Edit: And I think they should guess she has a shield since no one can remain ":)" after being shot with a crossbow and not missed, right?

There really is hardly any civilization in cantr. I would only be surprised by being attacked in a town that considered me 'one of them'. Elsewhere, a man in his thirties could accuse me of a crime and everyone would help kill me. I wouldn't even have to do anything.

One exception is Kirinn. One of my characters has great reason to appreciate their fairness.

You mean the one that arrived in a boat recently? :D

Yes. I guess that means I've identified one of my characters. Being protected by authority was a new experience for me as a player, as well as for the character. Is there anywhere else that protects strangers that way?

I'm a little lost when you say protected by authority???

I know some places have law enforcement and such to protect people? But I know like what way?

Law enforcement usually only protects 'citizens' or 'natives' or however you want to refer to recognized members of the community. And even then, a man in his thirties almost always wins any disagreement.
Sometimes the only things protected are the arbitrary and often oppressive laws.

Kirinn sided with (or at least refused to side against) my younger, unknown character when my character was challenged by a man in his thirties, known to the town leaders, accusing me of crimes. Completely unique in my cantr experience.

Oh I see, and agree. :)

My chars would probably side with their friends first, but my Ranger is objective. He must be. The rest don't have to be, as they don't claim to be.

about a Cantr year ago in Karnon, I think the guard acted very civilly in investigating a murder that happened in West Kol. A man came to Karnon, told of a murderer in West Kol. Then the man he's accusing comes in. The two men are separated and cared for while the guard went to investigate. There was no bias, even though the accuser (who turned out to be the real murderer) was a former ally of Karnon.

I had a character who begged pleaded and sobbed asking for her life and people still killed her. The sick part is the people responsible never said a word. Just in the building and back out taking bits of her life away. "Over security."

Not that she had a weapon of defense or resisted to begin with and even readily turned around when she was being chased. She'd comitted no crime, simply wanted to discuss things. They killed her.

I can't fathom for one minute that out of 5 differant characters who were responsible for her death, not a one of them didn't feel sorry as she was made a bloody mess and ~barely~ stood there begging for her life. But I guess I'm wrong since she's dead.
