World of violence and death
They're stealing - we slash them. They're just being plain annoying - we slash them. They're offline too long - we slash them. We're bored - we slash everyone around.
Has it always been like this? Ok, when I see inactive people or oneliners I often feel like clearing the game from such bores but I haven't yet killed any. With all the nameless charries dying for starvation and animal attacks, death doesn't have so powerful a meaning. They're just characters, move on.
But there are characters you learn to love.. or to hate, or to be jealous to. There are all sorts of emotions. It's very much like real world. Everybody affects somebody. When a town is massacred, it may hurt outsiders more than those who died.
To my characters death has been quite distant, at least first. This incident with Dove hurt her mentally, maybe beyond repair. And that's just because two characters died. My Maryan being killed - I kinda guessed it would happen but still it was so quick, first I didn't feel anything but I couldn't sleep much the following night. Then the massacre of Vrayllnuets hills north - Jonas being down and gloomy for days. They are just invented characters but still they can feel pain. It's not just the players reaction.
So what are your reactions to in-game violence and death?

None of my characters have been much impacted, but no one they care about has died. I don't play characters with the kind of mental softness to be effected by people they never knew dropping dead spontaneously.
I'm certain that two of them would have no severe reaction to seeing a town massacred, but I don't know with the others... The less hardened ones are harder to pin down for personality.

Most of my characters don't enjoy killing people. Some are pacifists. I have a few who are required to kill people on occasion, and they do it, but most don't like it much. I have a few who do, though.
Some of mine have been greatly impacted by the deaths of friends.
I personally don't like much violence, and I think my playing style reflects it no matter how I try to change it.

I'm not dead; I'm dormant.

Some of my characters kill without feeling remorse. If it will affect them or the ones they are close to, some won't even ask questions.
Others only have because it's for the safety of others.
I do agree, in game there is alot of killing. Alot of time there is more death than life.
That's how it is in the world sometimes, too.

Many of my characters would only use violence as a last desperate act.
If a thief steals some of their stuff they won't see it as worth killing them unless the resources stolen are very valuable.
Some of my characters who have had to kill people have reacted very strongly afterwards. Frederick Wilkinson swore to never again hurt another person and discarded his weapons, and Lance (who was earlier a very adventurous and sometimes ruthless person) changed his view on life after killing a thief in Quillanoi. He has had some events with violenct characters in other towns where he has chosen to leave instead of hitting back...
Amongst my warrior types most of them kill without much thought if necessary, but only one of my 15 characters have killed someone without a reason...and he is not mentally well.
Even warriors like Silverfoot and Odur the Stonecutter always tries to convince thieves and other criminals to give up and turn back instead of running to their deaths.
The problem is stated above...too many people die for small reasons.
I would like to see changes making life more valuable, like time penalties for losing characters and even bigger randomness in combat, making it risky to attack someone even if you are better armed.
(Critical hits knocking an opponent out in a single blow and stuff like that would add much to the game...)
I think Cantr would be much better if more people would RP their characters as beings with emotions instead of harvesting robots

Wow, only two of my chars have actually killed, and I don't think many more have actually hit anyone else. But one of my killing chars kills alot, and likes to kill, for some reason. HE would have done a whole lot more killing if it wasn't for.. mentioning no names, Odur. The other char killed an inactive person, who was 'clogging up the town'.

Some people don't like roleplaying
me not included.
When one of my char's lost a dear one, they took it in quietly, didn't talk out loud for several days. Quiet mourning. It was kept inside, and now this anger amongst other things well explo- (4 day rule)
Death-wise, he'll do his job, which usually means an initial vocal warning, then sabres swung. (Ranger) If its too risky, and the person is well armed, force will be used preemptively.
Only one of my characters have ever killed without really giving, he was a Lad Guardsman, thief or not. It was part of his character. His coldness has warmed up during his absense of the negative influences.
My other characters would only kill if they were hurt or victimized, minus a new Guard Character I have, who would unknowingly parallel the same vocal, then violence tactics.

Because he killed innocents. Not theives, and then run like the so (not) man that he is.Still killing? Or is it just buildings and locks that are left shattered?
That's a load of shit.
Since there's still complications in character, I prefer not to discuss this matter. So quote me as saying "that's a load of shit." And I wouldn't doubt that your character caused this interpretation of the events to occur.
