From now on it is possible to play characters in Polish. Of course, the same rules as for all other language groups apply: although you can use the language group to further train your language skills, some reasonable knowledge of writing and reading in the language is necessary before you can play and playing characters in a language other than the language group you start in is strictly forbidden.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm also interested if there any people on forum can speak badly in Polish, or have some Polish roots. :)

EDIT:
If it is here. I have also one suggestion to the Staff, which I got when translating Cantr. I think that in registration form there should be the same info about names like when adding new character. So new players will have idea at start how to name characters.

Well, it is almost one year of Polish area in Cantr, and we have already 262 Polish players and 291 characters, so we are now at 2nd place after English, which is partly thanks to my advertisement action.

And question: What you think about playing in Polish now?

I think if you learned Polish just to have a character in a certain town, you need to get a hobby other than Cantr. :D
But if you do speak a second language, not necessarily fluently, then do not hesitate to create a character in that language. And if you know a language that we do not support, then email languages@cantr.net.

Unless it's Drow. Nobody cares about Drow. (also not a real language)

I think that there is lack of Italian, Portuguese (which players looking for support), Finnish and Czech. Unfortunately, I'm not fluent in any of those languages to help in translation.

If there's one person willing to translate, one person willing to advertise, and 3 people willing to play in a language, then email languages@cantr.net and it will likely be added very soon.

We invite also english language minority - make Your own town on our virgin island - that would be interesting.

There is much to do, we need an infrastructure and know-how.
If You want to create something from the base, come on :)

But I think it is unfortunately against rules. Because they need to know Polish language if they start character in Polish area.

That is correct, KeVeS.

Not true. The Dutch only come there for trade, once in a few years. But Mianir is a truly bilingual town.

I don't know in where it is, but both Dutch and French must speak the same language which depends of location?

The French and Dutch are on the same island.
There could be English people in the Polish area, if the existing english characters happened to find the Polish sector.

Do you mean it is possible to sail from one island to others with different language sector?

Indeed it is. All characters in Cantr are on the same map.

edit: Your selected langauge as a character only dictates that you have to be born in a place where there are people who speak your language.

You guys got it right:

- it is against the rules to play a character in a different language than you set it up for - so saying you will play in Polish to start an English village is breaking the rules
- all languages are on the same map and can meet each other
