Maps

Postby Sarah » Thu Jul 08, 2004 5:55 pm

One of my characters is trying to make a visual map...kind of like the one called "Map of Blaman Area" by Ryan Ashcroft, where it shows the names of the locations and has lines that represent the roads. What program could I use to make that? I tried Paint the other day and it's not working out for me. That's the only possible program I have on my computer that I could find that might work...is there anything online I can use? The damn map has like 60 locations I have to put on there... it's too hard for me. Hopefully I'll get it done someday. I guess I could draw it then scan it onto the computer, but that always look bad.

I'm also interested in this visual map making ability. A few of my characters have pieced together road connections from a non-visual map, and would make a visual map if they could. But Paint is definitely not the right program to do this kind of map in.

Who was the person who made the "Map of the Known World?" In the Cantr City-Sjoftich Area. Because that is the best visual map that I've seen so far.

Rigel Starseeker's Blojt area map is an impressive map of the coastline from Krif and Seatown area all the way past Blojt and Longinazy. I haven't seen a better visual map yet.

One of my chars has a visual map of almost the entire island of Nonirowk, but it's pretty small.

I would reccomend using adobe illustrator for this kind of thing.

I am making one visual map on paint. It is a pain in the ass, but doable. You almost need the hands of surgeon to control the mouse. But unfortunately, I'll have to use something else to fill it with colors-if any are added.

I'm making a visual map for Jonas, based on the Rylan Ashcroft yellow map, or actually Jonas is mostly concentrating on the areas outside the map. There are little symbols for different resources, but there is this problem that though he may have seem wheat or something else common, there's no chance Jonas can have seen a pineapple and thus he is struck by burning wanderlust to see Jakara. Using plain MSPaint and it works alright to me. At least now when there's only five locations :) . Viewing the directions while on the road should help, for example Vrayllnuets Hills (n) is to east-south-east from Xiria forest.

I was wondering if someone had deleted my post, but then I remembered my connection had crashed before I was able to send this..

Nope. It's a private map. He and his partner-in-crime don't like sharing.

Perhaps someday, if they ever become respectable.

Or bored.

my char would disagree.

Of course, it's been nearly 10 years since he's massacred a town. So he might be losing his edge.

Unfortunately, weapons technology (and the violence system) has significantly advanced in most places these days. So's government.
I doubt a rehash of his past glories is possible now.
