Elephants

Postby Andy! » Mon Jul 05, 2004 7:18 pm

We have recently been approached by an elephant in a town. We are not sure whether they are hostile but they are large and I reckon they might do alot of damage if they do attack you. In this town we have nothing so far that can even scratch the elephant. I was wondering if anyone could help me in what can kill an elephant? :?:

I'd reccomend an elephant gun, if they existed.
Barring that, some good old fashioned gumption and grit might help.

Try some peanuts with a few kg's of TNT...

Seriously a warbow won't help you. And if they attack your in big trouble. I encouterd them once and my char died not long after 2 attacks...

You have three tactics here.

- Get a better weapon
- Run away
- Remain in a building in hopes that they will leave

No one can tell you what weapon is better than others, nor can they tell you what one is strong enough to kill an elephant. What can be said, though, is good luck is killing it!

Not being able to kill an elephant is not very fun

And "normal" (non-steel)better weapons then warbows don't exist, only steel weapons beat it.. and it is hard to come to steel in the places where I found the animals. There are like only 3 pple on that island

Also when a warbow does 0% a steel weapon won't do much damage aswell. The hiding advise saves lifes but not the problem. Seeing the way animals reproduce... there will be more of them soon...

Speaking of Weapons, there were supposed to be changes to them (And still are), but Richard left on holiday... so, someone (Probably me.) will be taking that over and finishing the changes, unless of course, Richard comes back shortly...

What changes do you mean? Some that might help in this case? Like for example the amount of damage on animals  ?
Or the time that a weapon lasts before it has to be repaired? Or making arrows for bows?

Or is this a mistery that will be found out IG  ?

"There are like only 3 pple on that island "

I know where you are and elephants or no the basic rule on that god-forsaken place is run, and keep running.

In my universe tribes were killing elephants with purely wooden spears. It wasn't safe, but if you put enough points into one...

It is simply absurd for an animal to have that much armor.
Though I guess that leads back into the whole combat system problem.

LoL, you really enjoyed saying that, don't you
I know I always do

About spears, they don't work against elephants.
Some one mentioned dart pipe, but only when some sort of venom or seditive is introduced it will work.

Couldn't you give them a lot less armor and a lot more health?

In the real world it isn't very hard to hurt an elephant... Just hard to hurt it enough to stop it. But you could hurt it with a large swiss-army knife. (bad idea)
