Cantr is not growing. Not even the Polish part. Short-term squiggles are noise. An honest look at the whole graph puts things in perspective.

If you do a look at the polish numbers in the same period as that graph we see the Polish population did have an increase though (Though obviously long term scale they are still down from a year ago). What is really interesting about the total players graph is that something appears to have happened between 4943 and 4966 that resulted in a 366 player drop.

That's around the time the Portuguese numbers plunged. I still don't know what happened there. I happened to pass through some Portuguese towns around that time

It was the inactive accounts as I mentioned above :)

If you look through all language groups you'll see the same drop.

It was introduction of the Portuguese intro town.

Oh interesting. It looked like in-game like some huge massacre or mass suicide took place.

I saw this thread and immediately got excited, but then read the whole thing and got even more sad. Honestly, I feel like I could recruit some people if I went around to college campuses and posted fliers about Cantr, but that's a lot of work.

439 now.

No point recruiting players if they can't even get approved in s timely manner

Yeah, and I recently discovered the cantr subreddit. It looks like a lot of people are dissatisfied with the way the admins have been handling things.

Take the reddit with grain of salt. People there got some valid points but also seem to be a bit trolling and telling things too harshly. But that's normal social media way :)

I don't see any trolling there - I do however see some uncensored discussion about true cantr issues.

Just fired up my account after being away for about 8 years (Spawned my first char back in 1024). The vibe has changed a bit, but there are still pockets of good RP.

I think new life can be breathed into it.

Since I started playing again 8 or so months ago the EZ has been pretty steady. Players bouncing from 160 to 175, characters from 1140 to 1230, we were at 161 and 1162 today. On the lower end of the range but not striking new lows or anything. There doesn't seem to be any sustained upward or downward trend, just the typical cycle in and out. I don't see an eminent collapse or a brilliant revival. There have been shifts from place to place in population and activity, but no game wide collapse or boom.

My experience tells me active interesting characters wake up sleepy towns. If you don't have one in your favorite town, become one.
