So that there is this option is necessary that the rule will be "it is not allowed have more than one character in the same locality".

I tried playing FTO again awhile back and, excluding all its other problems, two things made me appreciate Cantr so much more: unlimited playtime and CantrSpy. Probably CantrSpy more than anything. It was tedious to log in and check for activity then quickly log out. I still do type things up in notepad then paste into Cantr but I'm glad I don't have to go through the process of copying events, logging out, reading events and typing up a reply, logging back in, paste response then quickly log out again.

I don't want to see fewer chars in Cantr but I know for myself that I put more effort into playing when only a couple of mine are awake. It wouldn't bother me if we had 10 slots with the option to purchase more. Seems like a good way to raise money to run the game without introducing big advantages to paying players.

Technology has evolved from 2009, don't forget that. It's just that more of the phone culture has come into game (more and more use shortened expressions like wtf) We need less towns cause now you can clearly see time zone differences with players and for some reasons people aren't ready to work, seems they kinda expect to get everything immediately even if their spawn town would be poor. Some are rich but not all

And security.. I don't see much point in robbing when you can get wealth without much of risks

As side note, I have 15 chars and I can manage play them all equally. Much depends really on activity around you: Is the town you are active or not etc

I think it would be difficult to stop people from using this to group together with friends.

I think this would be a lot less contentious if the options were limited to 'I would like to spawn in a location with 10+ characters' 'I would like to spawn more than X distance from my existing characters' 'I would like to spawn in a coastal/non-coastal town' and other such similar things that might make things a lot more comfortable without letting you actually pick where.

I agree.

Towns would be a lot safer if the keys would not be held by a single 'town leader', but be divided between a few 'town servants'. This shared responsibility would also be a serious step forward in society development.

About the money suggestions: as soon as in-game advantages (like extra character slots) based upon real life money are introduced i'm out. Forever.

I guess I'm a bit biased in that I see extra slots as a disadvantage XD

Would it really be so bad if people could spawn in towns where their friends have characters, as long as they didn't cooperate outside the game in a way that hurts other people? A lot of people are already treating people differently if they like the player, even if it was technically against the rules. I would like to see a culture where when you know a player well enough, you can even kidnap or kill their character and have them enjoy the experience instead of thinking you're a jerk. I've never killed a friend's character, but I've sure enjoyed the times when my evil characters found people who appreciated the violent rp. Also once I had an ingame argument with a character who was played by my husband's real life friend. The argument put my character on a path that eventually caused his death, but yet I'm now friends with that player and think the argument was one of the greatest experiences I ever had in Cantr.

This solution would not apply to existing and active accounts, as granted rights.

For me this is a matter of principle, HFrance, not a matter of 'granted rights'.

I guess with the continual deficit and falling player base any idea to get funds is a good one

Except only charging new players won't help new player retention.

I don't think 200 minutes is that long.. It already seems like average players spends online around an hour so...

Out of curiosity do you currently donate?

I was going to write something earlier about your threat to quit if Cantr decided to monetize but decided to form my thoughts first.

I still think it's selfish.

It's not like they are proposing you can now buy a gun or a jet for your character. Heck, your character versus the donator's character would start the same.

You'd rather there be no monetisation from people willing to pay for a game you do not pay for (assuming you do not have an active monthly donation) than for Cantr to have funds to pay for servers, self-sustain and advertise and get more players?

I like you Tiamo and you're a good presence on the forums. But I'd rather have a bunch of new players AND mitigate Cantr's death than please someone who doesn't want Cantr to be monetised.
