I'll start!

- Obsidian (hard, dark, black, dense)
- Emerald (superficially beautiful)
- Coal (dirty, unclean, primitive)
- Diamond (impervious - but also was coal for a long time, rested in the same place for ages)
- Wool (soft, gentle, calm, nice)
- Silk... (well, he produces silk, so... but also, is a good person, smooth-talker like silk)
- Iron ore (broken down into little pieces but at the end of the day, still as hard as iron)
- Stone (solid, primitive, basic, hard)
- Honey (superficially sweet, sorta like Emerald)

I am too tired to come up with stuff for my other chars, but that one was so obvious.

- sapphire (hard, beautiful, blue, very limited but sophisticated use, rare)
- stone (reliable, strong, gray)
- iron ore (broken but useful)
- sand (only relatively useful, plain)
- pretzels (visually twisted but delicious)
- salt (useful, even beautiful in a way, but subtle)
- opal (colorful, strong)
- apples (I can't say more without making it obvious)
- platinum (rare and generally useless, only for vain purposes)
- clay (flexible, can stain you up, used to create)
- wood (sturdy, reliable, solid)
- ramen (twisted and limp, yet pretty rare and many people would be lucky to have it)
- leather (tough but flexible, durable)
- gourmet pasta (pleasure-seeking, likes cooking, soft, mushy)
- carrots (orange, crisp, tough to bite)

Why do you think it's not serious? Potatoes are very useful. Everyone likes them, it's nice to spend time with them etc.
