If your characters were mermaids...

Postby SekoETC » Fri Jul 31, 2015 11:17 am

If your characters were mermaids, what colored tail would they have? For the purpose of this experiment, also males can be mermaids.

1. Indigo with a metallic shine
2. (Coventina) purple
3. Golden yellow with rosettes
4. Faded navy blue with a dull silvery shine
5. Low saturation puce and matte
6. Olive green, with a ragged fin that has holes in it
7. Warm brown with a copper shine, with several scales missing
8. Forest green with a pattern similar to snakeskin
9. Baby blue, slightly iridescent
10. Bright yellow, with lime green stripes on the fin
11. Bubblegum pink with iridescent scales
12. Gray
13. Blotchy auburn, possibly a bit crooked
14. Pine green with rough scales
15. Close to skin color with a hint of red, mottled with small scales

I'm curious as to how you came up with this topic

1) Cornsilk with patches of various earth tones.
2) Iridescent sky blue that flits to navy blue in the light.
3) Jolly greens and yellows. Almost obnoxiously bright.
4) Matte black, with trace amounts of dark purple and green.

I was drawing some of one of my character's dead companions as mermaids. It was black and white but it made me think about colors. They can reveal a great deal about a person.

Some of mine live quite far from water, so they wouldn't be too happy, but I would say -

- I think this character would have a blue-green tail, the shade not too brilliant
- I think this character would have a green tail, possibly a darker green in a tartan pattern
- I don't know if it's the Ukrainian surname I gave to this character or not, but they would have a blue and yellow tail, maybe the scales alternate in stripes
- This character would have a red tail, maybe a crimson shade
- I could see this character having a multi-coloured tail in a rather abstract pattern
- This character would have a bright blue tail to match their eyes
- They would want a magenta and black tail
- This character would have a tail that was black at one end and white at the other to represent two parts of their life
- They would have a silver tail which would be reflective
- They would choose a brown tail, possibly a chocolate or mahogany brown
- This character would have a yellow, sandy-coloured tail, maybe with small splashes of blue
- This character would have a light blue tail
- This character would have a lilac tail
- This character would have a multi-coloured tail that had an abstract pattern
- This character would have a bright red tail

This has to be one of the most bizarre questions I've come across...

Oh geez… XD I'm in love with this thread already.

1. A light, shimmery copper-bronze color
2. A deep, glossy inky purple
3. A dark midnight black
4. A pale, prismatic white with a light lavender tint
5. A bright red with orange and gold hues
6. Bone white with random, odd scarlet streaks
7. A dark aqua blue
8. Citron!

Seko asks the hard-hitting questions that matter.

Okay I'll bite.

1.) nondescript greys and browns.

2.) hard bronze scales like a dragon

3.) soft yellow and white reminiscent of a koi fish

4.) purple with black fins and gold racing stripes

5.) chestnut brown with green fins shaped like leaves

...every day it's like there's some new way to be baffled at the weird things the internet makes me think about.

It kind of reminds me of those buzzfeed articles. "Which colour mermaid are you? Click here to find out."
