Your characters' losses

Out of my characters.

- Somewhat recently lost two friends to the sleeping sickness, before this killed two others that were sleeping too long and got separated from one who was sailing a separate ship. Has lost some lovers in the distant past, and habitually killed companions as they fell asleep.

- In the distant past, got separated from a lover and was never able to find her again. Also lost all of her possessions at the time while in her forties. Later lost a long term lover, although they had grown distant due to her sleepiness and occasional abuse. Has lost two daughters at different times.

- Lost all of her friends one after another. Now her only friend is a bird who doesn't talk. She still talks to the bird even though it doesn't talk back. It keeps her sane.

- Allowed his wife to starve when she had the sleeping sickness, then subsequently lost his ship to a thief. The guy he was sailing with fell into a deep sleep and eventually had to be left behind.

- Lost someone she considered a daughter. overall, she hasn't let many people get close so it has lead into relatively little losses.

- Assisted a former lover commit suicide when she said she couldn't keep on living anymore. Later allowed a sleepy lover starve to death, although I rp'ed it as him never noticing she was hungry, even though I saw the skull symbol. I just didn't want to prolong it anymore.

- Lost his only lover/wife because she lost her will to live. Recently lost a newspawn he had sired because he didn't realize animals would get past her shield. That was the only thing that has really touched me in Cantr recently. Sorry to who ever it was, now having their slot blocked for losing a character only a few days old. I feel responsible.

- Has never lost anybody because only one person has mattered to her in her whole life and they're still together.

- Lost his imaginary mother but got over it fairly soon.

- Has lost three people that were mother figures to her. One of these is still alive because I saw her through another character, but since my character in question has no idea where she is, she might as well be dead for all she knows.

- Lost two people that were sort of like mentors to her. After that she has stopped caring about all the people dying because it seems there are more than those that still live.

- Lost his town leader to a kidnapper.

My Finnish characters have never formed deep relationships, so they don't care when people die. Sometimes it's an inconvenience but more often it just means more free stuff.

The dead don't matter, and they usually provide very poor roleplay unless tied to a pole or cooked in a stew.

Eloquently put.

- Lost a couple of town leaders that he respected greatly, and several friends.
- Lost his temper, and - as a result - left his spawntown and is a roaming traveler now.
- Lost her first leader and some respected friends, but is now managing a great town.
- Lost his first captain, but he's now a captain with a steady crew.
- Lost his first love and his second love, but is now in love with a women whom he's known his whole life.
- Lost everything. Her home, her friends, everything. Depressed but hard-working, she's still finding what's next for her.
- Lost so many good friends and one lover. But has another lover and a good home.
- Lost his first life. Gave up his second life. Lost his first love, his second love, his third love. Still finding himself.
- Lost his first love when he gave up on his spawntown. Gave up his second life. Found a new love and a new purpose. Gave up his third town but has a real, permanent home now.
- Lost many loves and many friends over the years. Lost his daughter as well. But he carries on.
- Lost the first person she ever cared about - her sister - which broke her heart but not her resolve to live. Has lovers and family to live for, so she shook off her depression and carried on.
- Lost one of his three lifelong friends, but still has his others, and a leader he respects. He's lost relatively little, to be honest.
- Lost a lot of grief and gained a lot of friends as he built a new society from the ashes of a dying one.
- Lost his town and his love, mostly because he felt ignored and alone in a large town. He turned his back on because he couldn't find a way to be happy and communicate with them.
- Lost a will to sing because he can't find inspiration in new songs. Has never really forged connections - he's a rolling stone.

- lost his daughter. This one hit me pretty hard, she was adorable...
- lost her fiance. This one also hit me pretty hard, it was sudden and they were perfect for each other, and the player was a brilliant rper. :c She hasn't been the same since.
- lost her mother, she didn't last long after that.
- this one's lost two partners, one killed himself and the other died suddenly. Both hit her pretty hard, but she bounced back and found her true love eventually.
- Lost her partner to sleep. She waited for him for years, 8 I believe. The moment she decided to stop waiting, to live her life, he died the next day to a heart attack.
There are probably more, but I can't remember them.

1. Lost his ex-girlfriend/fiance, then lost any chance at love because the other woman he loved had died or something.
2. Lost her fiance in the wilderness, then lost the two people that had spawned while they were off in the wilderness (don't know what happened to them), then lost the town leader a while after she came back, then lost the last person she considered a friend. Then she lost her will to live.
3. Lost a friend because she wasn't paying attention and didn't notice he was hungry. Lost a well-respected partner (not romantic). His loss is still felt to this day.
4. Lost her home... or rather her sense of home.
5. Became lost when the sense of unity between her and her four friends died off after one of them died. Going to those islands was a mistake.
6. Lost his girlfriend whom he loved very much. She was everything to him and he wanted to be everything to her. He waited for her for a long time.
7. Lost her father, and shortly afterwards her innocence, and her people.
8. Lost his motivation to narrate, and without narration he was useless.
10. Lost her boyfriend. Doesn't care anymore.
11. Lost the fire that drove her to keep on living. She considered Matthew Bauer lost to her because she was clueless and didn't realize her romantic/physical attraction to him until after he had left Shai.
12. Lost his life when my mother made me cut back on male characters, and he was my least-developed.
13. Lost her friends, lost her love interest, lost her town, and lost her will to live. She later lost all respect for herself after she announced her suicide, comfortable with the decision, and was shortly thereafter dissuaded. She eventually slept and starved to death. She was probably one of my more depressed characters.
14. Lost her friends to sleeping sickness or some form of dementia. She thrives but she doesn't forget.
16. Lost her partner. Doesn't really care, except now she has to do the things her partner usually took care of.

-lost her sense of direction, in that she's no longer sure where she fits in, she's in between who she was born as, and the people she cohabilitates with, and neither feels right.
-lost the love of his life when he left her like a thief in the night to steal away for a better life. Still thinks about this-often.
-lost her town, her friends, her sister, her job, her life, trying to help out and do the right thing. Probably losing her mind, now, even though it was worth it.
-lost her partner, her love. So used to being pampered, and cared for, and him being there, that she can hardly function on her own. Might eventually use his body for stew if things get difficult, cause she's not ever burying him.

Only interesting response I have to this at the moment (that I can think of) is that one character of mine once lost a sleeper.

He was responsible for taking care of one of the town's founders, who'd been asleep his whole life. Then one day she was gone. Checked buildings, roads, burial records... I have no idea what happened to her.
I suspect she died and was burried by someone who afterwards forgot that they did so. But who knows? He assumes that if you sleep long enough without heart failure, you actually evaporate.
