I read it in his post. I even quoted it. Odd that you missed it.
If a newspawn wish to travel the firts thing they do, they really haven't grasped this game at all imho.
Also I read a lot about the challenge is gone from the game. So removing yet another thing that takes time will solve the problem of a reclining player base? I think not. The road lengths is a fact of the game. Deal with it?
I did say it will explode and I still agree it will. I don't really have to deal with it because I've already unsubbed, I was just trying to help out a game that I've become fond of but if you would rather me just ignore it then I will and I wont bother bringing it up again. But here is another fact, road length isn't a "challenge" it's at best an annoyance that can be rectified by a few rounds of potatoes.
Anyway, I know what I've experienced and out of at least 50 people since I've been trying to recruit every single one have stopped playing because of the amount of travel that *directly* interferes with the *basic* game play mechanic of role play. The exact thing this game was centered around.
So if the only thing I get in return for my well thought out comment and my 50 plus recruitment attempts is a "deal with it." Then fine, I wont bother anymore.

Traveling is aspect that needs fixing, nobody wants to travel alone 4 days on damn road.. and then arrive place with nobody and walk again couple of days. And.. that soon goes be full week without any contact with people if you are unlucky. Not too couraging to play, eh? This is great game but.. We need to do something to keep it like it us now, as playerbase goes down.. so does fun because less people=Less fun and possibilites to do things

Cheers but just something you'll have to deal with I guess if you plan on sticking around. I'm certainly not. That bit of that comment right there completely cutting off any further discussion of this topic while ignoring all the facts I've discovered. I've honestly never been so disrespected my entire life by somebody I held in such high regard too. I definitely wont be back, wont be donating and in fact will probably at this point steer people away from the same disrespect I was shown here. Good luck to you man and you too EchoMan, even if you did back hand me.

Why is there a need to travel in the first place? Most newspawns (or rather new players) learned the hard way that roads are long in Cantr. The In-Game reason to travel isn't obvious for newspawns just running away. They seem to be mislead by their players belief that there is something a whole lot more interesting down that random road.
Travelling in Cantr should have an in-game purpose, like trade or something, and it should be something that is planned carefully, or it will go awfully wrong.
What are those things you claim as
facts?

That the 50 recruits you brought to the gme all left because the roads/travel times are too long?

It would be interesting to see statistics on how many characters stay in the towns where they were spawned. My guess is hardly anyone at all. People want to choose their community, not stay where the random number generator spat them out. Out of my characters, only two are currently in the towns where they spawned, with two more considering their spawn towns home, even though they're currently traveling. And those two that are in their spawn towns have both traveled.

Because of EchoMan's points I agree with Seko's suggestion of disabling walking for new players altogether, the same way they can't fight or even spar. They should still be able to take a vehicle since that's faster, but letting them have such an easy way to accidentally ruin the game for themselves is confusing.
Wanting to pick a community is a good point, and a good in character reason to travel, but it should probably come after getting a real idea how things happen one town at a time.

I don't know if I like the idea of stopping them from leaving entirely (that's one of those things that could be handled IC and I have a character with eventual plans to do exactly that...), but if it's the matter of keeping a brand new player from making a mistake, how about a message the first time they leave explaining how ticks and travel times works and making sure they understand it will take a few days, that they may want to make sure they have supplies first, and that it's normal to not get a response right away because other players may not be logged in?
And any other random thing that might be useful that they probably missed by not paying attention on the tutorial island.
Anyway this and the 'thinking about quitting' thread have really been derailed recently...some interesting points raised in both but tough to respond to on a phone, and IMO it seems like the whole thing would have been better off in it's own thread.

The intro server says:
On the bottom of the page you'll see the a list of exit routes. As I've mentioned earlier, travels happen in a turn based system, so even going to the road and turning around can take up to three hours. Don't do it without a reason. Travelling by foot is very slow and can take even a few days.

Yes but obviously not everyone bothers with the intro. I saw someone spawn and go 'hi im new how do you play this game' not too long after I restarted and I assume they weren't the only one.

That people don't pay attention is a whole other issue.
For the sake of this topic (which is severely OT at the moment) we would have to assume that players do read instructions and hints in a text based game.

Forgive me for continuing to be OT, but that seems like an extremely poor assumption.

I might be in the minority but I almost always give my spawntown a fair chance. My character would have to have reasons like feeling disliked or ignored before running off, and except in an extreme case where they immefiateky have a bad experience it takes at least a few days to get a feel for a place.

Yes and I'm unwilling to continue this conversation with you if you keep the demeaning attitude towards me and my opinion. I'm fine with discussion but I'm not fine with people being insulting towards me. The discussion will continue, but with people who wont demean me.
I have no idea why you're doing it or if you just hate me. But please, stop it. We're both adults here so you should at least be respectful of my opinion if you don't agree. If for some reason you have some personal beef with me for what ever reason then PM me and we'll squash it. Otherwise, I don't feel like I deserve to be disrespected on these forums by anyone. I've been nothing but polite with anyone I've talked with or at the very least tried to be respectful.
