Things that make you, a refined RP'er, cringe/writhe in pain
I'm kidding about the refined part.
Here's mine:
4651-2.10: a man in his twenties says: "I will be in helping when ur gone"
urgh

I'm generally a huge grammar nazi, so I really appreciate people using the English language correctly...
But, my biggest pet peeve is people using 'your', in place of 'you're'. It's like nails down a chalkboard for me.

You're pet peeve is well justified, their are more than one ways to stuff up grammar and its affect is more then harmful on the reader. A lose control of the English language if your a native English speaker makes you think, "I should of studied better, that's no complement to myself, the principle told me off many times".
(just kidding)
But yeah it really breaks the roleplay immersion if someone is being lazy (ur instead of your) with their spelling/grammar.

Maybe he spawned with a soft palate.
Anyone here ever try to play a character who speaks with lots of glottal stops?? Cause that would be awesome.

How are you even supposed to roleplay that without using massive IPA, which most people (Americans at least) don't know? (Even I'm using it incorrectly here.)

Just reading this made me hurt inside.
I concur.
I think bad grammar/spelling for the sake of roleplaying accents or dialects is fine, but generally it's easy to tell the difference. Things like "your" and "you're" have nothing to do with accent, at least in my opinion.
What makes me cringe sometimes is OOC talk, real world references, and made up pre-spawn stories.

Agreed, but I think there is some extent to which this can be pushed - though it is a fine line. Something brief and vague is okay in my books - i.e., eternal darkness before spawning, but going into an actual history "I was a farmer in another life!" or "I am God's right hand" is just dumb.
Every time I have to OOC talk, I cringe on the inside, it feels awful.

When I joined Cantr, I didn't know background stories were frowned upon. In other roleplaying games, they're part of creating a well-thought out character. But of course it sounds bad when you say your father was mauled by a bear when there are no bears on the whole island and the consensus is people don't have parents.
I also hate it when people write text speak. My phone doesn't autocorrect, it suggests words and I can manually pick the right one. Sometimes it suggests things like u but I just skip it and pick the right one instead.

That's better than I can do, I flunked phonological linguistics twice.

When youu post after someone, or they post after you IG, and you've used the same uncommon adverb or verb. It destroys me. Like.
X says: *Squints and peers around the jungle*
W says: *Peers over at what ever.*
So much no. I hate when I'm the one to accidentally use it (Cell phones are hard OKAY?!?)

This kind of thing used to really bother me but not anymore. Grammar nazism is a luxury I think we as a community just can't afford anymore. I've got a character in charge of a group where THE most useful character, hands down, is one whose player posts pretty much nothing but one liners with no punctuation or capitalization. The thing is they're ALWAYS awake and work on whatever I ask them too, so sorry, other character who wakes up twice a week and writes detailed paragraph-long emotes, you have a special space in my heart too but you'll never compare.

Things like this:
a man in his twenties says: "lol tis cantr is. awsum Ane1 haves food 4 my guy"
Chatspeak, grammar issues, and incorrect OOCing… IT BURNS……
Basically, any roleplaying text that involves the acronyms "lol" or "omg" gets on my nerves… I see that enough in real life already. XD

Right before logging into a character, I was IMing and texting a lot back and forth with work and other things and glad that I wasn't so quick to hit the "Talk to all" button. I think there were a couple uses of "lol" an unfortunate "YOLO" and even a "
" at the end. Needless to say, I cringed a bit, then sort of 'loled' as I thought of the repercussions if I had hit send.

Oh the joys of drunk Cantr...
