Not an ooc mistake, but I once purchased a vehicle and invested in quite a bit of RP in starting the vehicle and driving off... then realised the vehicle had no engine. Most embarrassing!

I once responded with one of my characters -as- another of my characters. It 1) made it fairly obvious that I played this other character, and 2) was very awkward because their personalities differed so much.

So far my only mistake was speaking about the mother of my character. Everyone looked at me confused. I did not know we simply appeared there haha

Oh, it gets worse. See, there's this thing called spawn parents. You essentially get a mix of two people in towns skills, with a little randomisation up or down. So yes, you have parents, and with a little detective work, you might be able to narrow it down (seen some notes ingame of people trying to figure it out). Odd concept, but it's by far not the least or only odd thing in Cantr. Have fun finding some more

Let's see, I used (tm) when describing something. Felt like a right fool. Done plenty of talking with the wrong character. But the worst, or most consequence-laden ones, where talking to the wrong person about something. Oh, hello jail. Nice to see you again. Bugger! Talking *about* the person, not *to* the person.

Also - in some towns, people have formed families, with the concepts of mother and father, though it's usually more through adoption. So in some towns, it might seem perfectly natural. I have a character with a mother, father, grandparents and tons of siblings.

But you still can't talk about your char's previous life as if they had a backstory and a mother.
New players sometimes have a hard time wrapping their minds about that, but it's a simple concept if you just remember the fact that there are no NPCs in Cantr. And that the entire world is precisely defined location by location. Your char is pretty obviously a liar, or crazy, if they start talking about coming from a far away place when anyone standing outside would have been able to see them come from the road, find the claimed origin place on a map and radio to confirm. Or talking about a 'mother' even in the metaphorical sense, that never existed.

One of my chars had just taken a bath, and when he left the tub, I forgot to put his clothes on. People stared and I didn't know why, until I saw the clothes in the inventory...

Try playing a character in a leadership role having a scandalous fling with a ship captain, successfully managing to keep it hidden from the rest of the town by having lots of boring trade talks, dragging resources around, etc., until walking back from one trade naked. "So and so, where did your clothes go?" "Oh. Why, that's strange, isn't it? They seem to have fallen right off."
