Categorizing characters

I'm not sure if I want to return to the forums full time but I had this idea for a poll, so I'm posting it anyway.
How many characters do you have in the current categories?
The numbers are my own answers.
Town-dwelling vs traveling:
- mostly staying in one town - 6
- occasionally traveling but spending enough time in one town to consider it a home -2
- traveling alone on land on mapped areas - 2
- traveling with company on land on mapped areas
- sailing alone on mapped areas - 1
- sailing with company on mapped areas - 2
- traveling alone on unmapped areas - 1
- traveling with company on unmapped areas - 1
Occupation:
(Some characters might fit in several categories so pick the one that's most fitting.)
- town leader - 1
- council member/assistant leader/management position
- law enforcement
- entrepreneur/works on projects they start themselves
- laborer/works on projects someone else starts - 1
- resource collector (local) - 2
- traveling resource collector (gets resources from various locations) - 2
- custom descriptions based occupation (fashion designer, artist, engraver, carpenter etc.) - 2
- rp-based occupation (for example massage artist, prostitute, fortune teller, hairdresser, dancer, actor)
- primary unemployed roleplayer, might occasionally work on something but not enough to call it an occupation - 2
- local trader
- traveling trader - 2
- shipping services (including mail services, transports goods belonging to other people)

Some characters? Nah, I can't easily categorise most of them because so many are in places where the leaders have died and no-one has really taken sole charge since, so the few left are sort of co-leadership/just kinda doing their own things and some of them had specific careers in mind but have had to put them on hold while they sort things out around the town and such, but hoping to get back to what they're wanting to do soon.

I find it hard to categorise. For one nearly all my characters are thieves. With some places so rich that they have no goals I feel no shame getting myself a five-fingered discount. Salvaging old vehicles and emptying abandoned buildings I do as well. The point is, none of them are actual thieves or scavengers, they have real jobs and goals that have nothing to do with crime.

...and one that's traveling with no real purpose, not sure what you'd call them.
And for two of the above this isn't what I'd consider a permanent role for the characters, just a means of getting what they need to do more interesting things later.
