Containers

Greetings.

Today I have repaired a bug with containers (barrels, etc.). After having found and repaired the bug, I was wondering how anyone was ever able to use any kind of container, since the bug prohibited storing material in a container that wasn't already in it.

I'm curious now, if any player has ever used containers, and if that worked. If you are uncertain, you should try to retrieve the stored material from the container you used. If the material is not there any more, I'm afraid it's not recoverable.

If you notice that your container is bugged (i.e. your container is full/partly filled, but you are also not able to retrieve any material from it, because you can't choose any), drop me a PM with the exact location name of your container, and I will at least be able to repair it in the sense, that I can make it usable again.

If you successfully used (stored AND retrieved material) containers, please also post a brief message.

Hi,
As I already told you thomas I could only store things in it, but couldn't get it out... although when I had my 1st barrel it did work for a brief period of time, after which the bug came in.

Now it all works fine again.

Tnx.

I had a char who used a container all the time. Never had a problem :? That was possibly 10 Cantr years ago, though.

Not recently, but up til 5 years ago one of my chars regularly used two different types of container, silo and barrel, I never had any problems with them or know about any current problems with them.

Ah, nevermind. I found the explanation now, how containers could ever have worked. ;)
On Feb 10th 2004, the bug I fixed today was introduced to the code. That would be about 6 to 7 Cantr years in the past.

You may still send me PMs if your current containers are corrupted. That will be the case, if you stored a type of material in a container that was not stored in it before, between Feb 10 and today.

It's not necessary to post here, if you successfully used containers. I've found a satisfying explanation for that now. ;)

My container never had a problem and I stored all kinds of things in it and often took things out. This is James Whitmore's container in his Metalworking Shop. Always worked fine. Maybe the bug only affected some of the containers.

But I have noticed that if you put to many things in the container the stuff sometimes lose the name next to them until you take one or two of the stuff out of the container.
