One of my characters had a considerable collection of literature that she was quite proud of. She decided to compile it into a book, and I just happened to copy/paste a line into google, and sure enough, there it was. Nearly 3/4 of her collection was plagerized! Needless to say, I destroyed it all. There's no place for that in Cantr, in my opinion. We were both very disappointed.
I had always had an idea that some people copied their works off the internet but I never got the idea that it was a common practice, does it not break some kind of rule (everything needing to be generated within the game world, etc)? The only reason I never wrote any poetry and only a single story was because it was so damn hard to think of anything! I really appreciate the flavor people bring to the game with their original pieces, especially when I can tell its influenced by their time in Cantr. I did always wish their were more non-fiction writers beyond just history or maps, can't someone just explain why they believe "x is the only moral response to y crime" instead of just assuming all these thing

?
Personally I always enjoyed a poem about stars by Kostav who lived in Doryiskom long ago. Sorry that I can't be more specific, the note is no longer in my possession, twas a pretty poem though.

If I write poetry in game it's all original, I don't see why you would copy from the internet, just don't write any aha.

I like some of the religious and philosophical texts I've seen, like the notes where cantrians explore the "sleeping sickness" and where their souls come from, and why some people never wake up their entire lives, it's so realistic showing how people question their world, and then there's other things like informative documents, people write down instructions for making things so others can see them, I have a character who is (very slowly) working on compiling a volumized set of cookbooks with every recipe he knows. I don't know if he'll ever finish because he's so busy all the time, but it's the only thing he's ever done that's literature-related, cooking is his art so I thought a cookbook would be neat =P

I want a Hairdresser's Guide to Being Fabulous. How's that for non-fiction?

I will admit that most of my Cantr poetry is parody.
The Hatchet Song Izzy wrote for Wonder, for example, based on Peter Paul and Mary's If I Had a Hammer.
I don't have it anymore since Izzy is dead.

Presenting.. Emoetry?

4379-0.25: Ryan Fielding says: "*he almost looks pained as he stretches and strains out a yawn, as he wakes from his sleep. His eyes all a blur, his voice half a slur as he coughs to shift all but the deep. A hand through his hair as he takes in some air and his eyes open just for a peep, then open up wide, light shining inside as he sees her and steps with a leap.. To wrap arms 'round her waist, lips meeting with haste, specs lift from her face! Causing blush to be placed on her freckled necklace, as their fingers enlace and caress with their grace before he winks and goes back to his place* Good morning, Evangeline..."
4379-1.03: Evangeline Wordsmith says: "*her hand moves to her neck, eyes wide as if saying "what the heck". She watches him step back, a knowing smile the words lack. A moment of silence, eyes bright like diamonds. She walks over to him, returning the kiss, light and gentle, reminiscent of the mist.* Good morning, Word Mate."

I've had this on me so long I don't even know where it was written.
Darkness comes, suffocating the light
Sounds of the sea, silencing my cry
Nocturnal illusions rising from the dark
Cutting and scarring, leaving their mark
Raging waters, purifying the sting
Reminding me out there, nothing is everything
Waves made of rage, crashing upon the shore
Taking away everything, leaving nothing more
From darkness, now comes light
Re-forging everything, bestowing a new sight
A new beginning, a clean slate
He hands himself over, accepting his new fate

I have two musical chars... this is not one of them.
This man lost his wife.
Sorry that I don't write in sensible ways, quatrains and triads without rhyme or reason.
To me they mean something.
==================
Teardrops on steps just complete,
“Take me bed dear, I need to sleep”
In that bed, I kissed you.
Again and Again.
Silent mornings, even the birds doth cry,
Distant mourning, time idles by.
I never felt so alone.
So now I build this stone up to the sky,
Up above, finally the hawks doth fly,
I’m in pain
The worst possible curse in this world,
Is knowing that I’ll remain.

That was one of mine, long dead now. Talk about a descent into depression!

My char has found these
.....
If a tear was shed for all the lives that had been
the tears would make a sea.
Did Gods shed tears for lives long past
and for the lives that will be?
If their was a star for every smile
the stars would fill the sky.
Did gods sow beauty for every smile
we make before we die?
-Miles Frentity, 1997-
When you`re out in the world, on a great journey
seeing the queer and new, all by your `lone`
who has not looked over shoulders and sigh,
who has not thought of the distance from home?
When you`re sitting by th` hearth, and look out the door
who`s thoughts have not flitted and drifted from on the wind?
Why stay at your homes and fields in comfort and warmth,
when their`s adventures to go on, a whole world to win?

One of mine came across copies of those two, along with another:
In the long ago romantic days, when heros sailed the ocean,
The merchant ships were glamorous (in shameless self promotion).
The holds were rich with cargo, the fearless captains needed `non`
but a helm to grip with callused hands, and a star to focus on.
There was no forced drafting, no death for jumping ship,
the captains directed good lads, with respect instead of the whip.
Each man was worth his own salt, all counted equally free,
the provisions were held in common, they practiced democracy.
Oh, the seas were full of danger, of vicious rain and hail
where the decks were washed with sea brine, a rip in every sail
but the toil was worth it, when the lookout shouted "land ahoy!"
and they set foot on golden shores again, kissed the ground in joy.
They boldly sailed from port to port,
bringing goods from a foreign land.
They dined honored in the monarch`s courts,
told tales of adventures grand.
The world today is strange, not like the day of old
but still, keep the inns ready, and watch the sea!
one day, a ship may come in from oceans` cold
crewed by merchant sailors, proud and free.
-Miles Frentity, 1978-

The WordsmithExquisitely articulate,
With words she strives to circulate,
The Wordsmith shows her knowledge
for the the rest of us to see.
Deliciously intelligent,
Captivating, eloquent,
Her mind containing wisdom of
how everyone should be.
Awkwardly delectable,
Unquestionably citable,
A fierce and worthy advers'ry
guarding her authority.
Distant though congenial,
Uniquely infuential,
She'll stay with you eternally,
or maybe that's just me.

Miirkaelisaar poem about location names is so great I read it out loud. I'm just not sure if it would be within the 4-day-rule to share it because I just saw it.
