Most and least favorite Cantr clothing

Postby SekoETC » Wed May 14, 2014 12:04 pm

What are your most and least favorite (or unintentionally ugliest) currently existing Cantr clothing descriptions?

My most favorite is or at least was for a long time, the cotton chemise. I find it very cute. Then there's the wool stockings. I once drew a picture that featured both items. I also like the gold turquoise ring, because I've seen the picture it's based on and one of my characters used to have one of them before he died.

My least favorite are for example the silver crown:

a well crafted silver crown which the light gleams off the reflective surface of. Small, precise runic enscriptions encircle the base and five points extend upwards in even spacing

Ending a sentence with of makes me think of how Yoda talks. And if it only has five points, that's not going to look like much, unless it's really tiny. Also, "inscriptions" is misspelled.

Then the hemp coat:

a coat that hangs down just past the waist, made of brown hemp cloth, with long sleeves and a wide collar, that is fastened with ties at the front

The wide collar makes me think of something from the 60s/70s, and that it's fastened with ties instead of having buttons seems weird. Of course this item was created before buttons existed, so that explains why.

Two of my favorites are the cotton chemise and the wool shift, both paired with the thigh length boots. I have a character in each. I hope to get them both stockings of some kind to go with their outfits.

My least favorite... Probably the cotton dress:

A simple dress of soft cotton covers the wearer's body. The sleeves are wide and comfortable, the length comes to just above the ankle in a pretty flare.

Even the picture I find hideous. I would rather my characters wear hide. But then... With the custom descriptions, the cotton dress could become gorgeous and easily a favorite.

I'm also not a fan of the leather clothes... But I am probably one of few in that category.

Favourites:

Blazer

A casual, lightweight, single-breasted jacket made of wool cloth with finely worked bone buttons to close it in front.

Short Wool Dress

A well-tailored wool dress that follows the contours of the body, the hem falling to mid-thigh. It features a belted waist emphasizing the hourglass figure, and short sleeves with slightly accentuated shoulders. The buttoned front is double-breasted, drawing attention to the face

Least Favourite:

Denim Trousers (Please try a little bit harder?)

Long trousers with straight legs, made of denim.

Short-sleeved silk dress

A form-fitting, short-sleeved dress made of shiny silk cloth, featuring a short, upright collar and diagonal closure with ornamental frogs.

Ornamental frogs made of string? Most of my characters have never even seen a frog.

Just sayin'...

I knew I was missing one of my favorites!

And Lol on the frogs. I seen this on someone and thought it was customized because of the frog. I figured it was meant to be a button of some sort.

Another favorite of mine are the skinny jeans with leather pumps.

It means frog closures, not the animals.

I'm not a tailor!

Fair enough. You learn something every day.

I also dislike the Short-sleeved silk dress, and I too had no idea frogs wasn't literal. I've never had a silk dress that I didn't heavily modify in my custom description.

lol Blame the English language for being vague! Then again, I don't know what they would be called in Finnish either...

I really love the wool robe. The cotton sash has a special place in my heart, not sure why. Also the fur wristbands, those rock. None of my chars have really interacted with jewelry.

I can't really think of any clothing I hate, but the pirong is weird. I would love the cotton longsleeved shirt, but a) ties? why? and b) it uses more cloth than a longcoat. ._.

Pirate shirt much? Arrr! I think it uses more cloth because it's thick, so like double thickness or something. And the good thing about custom descriptions now is that if you don't like the ties, you can remove the mention of them. Can't do anything about the weight, though. One option would be to use a long-sleeved undershirt, that's lighter, but the problem is it gets hidden behind coats and stuff.

Exactly. Alternately, I could just wear longsleeved hemp, but for whatever reason, I always think of that stuff as burlap.

Used to be anything silk would make me happy...with custom descriptions however, anything can be beautiful. I don't know if I'll get to play around with them any time soon, but I look forward to it either way.

Some that irks me is that - not often, not rarely, I'll go with frequently - the native descriptions are longer than what's allowed for the custom descriptions. You'd think that the custom descriptions would be even longer than any of the native ones, since you're putting the extra time in to make it more fancy, you'd need the space to add details.
