That wasn't an edit. That was a post.

You're confusing me.

[EDIT]: Oh! Yes, I did edit that quickly. I reread my posts all the time. And I realised my error. So I fixed it. I wondered what you were talking about (I'm so dumb)

I scanned this entire thread three times, because I know I seen Drakert's name. But I can't find it. Either I'm really blind, or they edited it out to hide it from you ;)

I just went through it too, and didn't find it, maybe it was in another thread, or Drakert's player edited it out?

Im neither for or against the posting of characters.

On one hand I know for a fact through bad experiences that when someone knows your characters it changes the way they interact. (Some will say that "Well just because it happened to you in such a way doesn't mean it will me"..Trust me, it can, when you least expect it.)

I think that if you want to post them you should, and if you want to read about who others characters are then you should; but not without keeping in mind that it COULD DEFFINATELY change the way you or the person reading about the characters' interact--- it can seriously not be so fun when that happens.

I know there have been 2 of mine mentioned on here for sure, I don't intend to mention any others.

Maruja Vincent
Dominic Raleigh

I used to not mind so much when I first started playing-who knew my characters but that has changed. As far as myself knowing who plays who? There are certain someones whose characters I'd rather not know.

Indeed--keep in mind the information on here is strictly ooc and should not be used in game or for your personal benefit. If it is, rest assured we have ways of finding out. :)

Lastly, I don't feel not permitting this topic will lessen the cheating we already have and will continue to have. I don't feel leaving it will increase it either. If people are going to cheat, they're going to cheat. If they want to know who is played by who they'll make attempts to find out with or without this specific topic. Posting them here may make it easier for someone to find out who is played by who when they're looking to use that info to cheat; but the players who post the info can't say they weren't warned of the possibilities of that happening.

Anthony Roberts wrote:Angel,

But that's already possible. I just contact any number of Cantr players on my contact list and go, "Hey! Let's get our characters together and break the Capital Rule on purpose for our own benifit!"

Well, there's a Capital Rule thread for that. If someone even suspects foul play, they post it and the PD looks into it.

Plus, people post their characters names everywhere else all over the Forums. Annoyingly Well Played Characters, Cutest Couples in Cantr, etc. There are lists of names, and boundless topics where people talk about characters of each other and their own.

And, when was Cantr an Anonymous game? It's a Society Simulator. I don't see warning pages everywhere... "CAUTION! Cantr II is an ANONYMOUS game! Do not contact anyone Out Of Character under ANY circumstance because then they'll know who you are! And that breaks the Anonymility of the game!" :P - I'm just playing around :)

DISCUSS CANTR

Cantr II is a very anonymous game. Nobody can see who is playing what character. You can however join an out-of-character group to chat about the game - or of course about anything - with your fellow players. Please make sure that you know and understand the capital rule: you cannot use knowledge that you gather from the out-of-character group when you are playing your character. Anyway, please join ;)

The forum for out-of-character discussion can be found here. Joining this group is strongly encouraged, as the game administrators will use this group as the main forum to discuss new ideas, or to find assistance, or to explain rules that are not clear.

One way to see what players want is using the polls on the forum pages - please keep an eye on what is going on there!

I now only have five chars. They are:

Erko Kornell
Gil Moraine
Joanne Freeman
Tom Bradshaw
Francis Silver (swedish)

I used to have two more swedish chars but since the swedish part is so small it was hard not having them bump in to each other all the time so I let them die. I just saved Francis for sentimental reasons, he was my first swedish char.

I have only run in to one or two of the names mentioned in this topic in the game. And thatwas only on an aquaintance level, not really interacting. My chars friends seem to be played by real anonymous people. :-)
