Should we disallow whispering through windows?
Seems to me that if we can't attack someone through windows, we shouldn't be able to get close enough to whisper to them either.

I don't see why this should be disallowed.

Re: Should we disallow whispering through windows?
If people are whispering through windows in completely different buildings, which doesn't make sense, that I can understand to disallow.
But speaking of characters whispering from a building to those just outside, what if someone comes close/ is close to the window?

Cantr windows have a window screen incorporated as the special offert of the month.
That's why you can't attack but you still can whisper...

Bottom line: I don't see why such a boon to the Cantrian world needs to be nerfed.
It does seem awkward that two people in different buildings, two people in separate vehicles, or a between a vehicle and building can whisper, but I simply chalk it up to Cantrian physics. Many people do emote that they move closer to the window before speaking quieter to a person indoors. Even before windows were introduced, you could whisper between vehicles.

Re: Should we disallow whispering through windows?
I had to whisper through a window recently. I have to admit, it felt like I was cheating, being able to direct the soundwaves emanating from my mouth to another character's ear.
Having said that, I think instead of banning it, players should maybe roleplay beckoning another character to the window, because that's reasonable/realistic.

Re: Should we disallow whispering through windows?
I always emote myself as approaching the window and leaning in or beckoning the other person over, but it annoys the heck out of me seeing people do this between buildings.
Still, in the long run no more unrealistic than two people having sex or an emotional meltdown with lots of angry screaming and crying and arm waving in the same room as your character without you noticing.
Whispering between buildings at least has the excuse of saving the prayer some clicking... I wouldn't mind seeing it needed but only if it's seen as exploitative in a mechanics sense, not just because bad RPers get on our nerves.

Re: Should we disallow whispering through windows?
I try to enter the same room as my whisper target, for RP purposes, but usually I'm too lazy. I'd probably appreciate the obligation to get my character off their lazy butts. This should happen because I lack the willpower to do things properly, I guess is what I'm saying.
But I don't really care either way. I think it would be more 'Complete' to not allow whispering, just because it makes sense, and window whispering seems more like an omission than a feature, but it doesn't hurt the game in any way.
It would probably make sense to at least forbid whispering through more than one window though

Re: Should we disallow whispering through windows?
Cleverly concealed lip-reading, not that far-fetched.
It's harder to lean through a (assuming small) window and throw your sword at someone and hit them, or aim a bow at someone hiding in the shadows of a room, than to cup your hands around your mouth and mouth across town to someone already engaged in conversation with or looking toward you, especially if some people consider windows as being too small to fit one's body through to attack them. (I'm bad at this, I have characters who exit buildings by "climbing out the window" even though it's mechanically not true) That's how I've always seen it. In the case of a blind character, they might be able to hear a whisper from further away than other people anyway due to heightened sense of hearing.
It's just annoying when you forget where another character is and hug them or something when you're in two different buildings which is pretty impossible, but usually that's aloud and not a whisper anyway, just awkward RP from not paying enough attention. Alternatively people could pass notes via "paper airplane" like I've had characters do in the past, but that can also be annoying for people the note-passing is visible to, and makes people more suspicious of your characters because it makes it look like you're trying harder to prevent being overheard and may be hiding something.

My opinion is, Nah...
When I think of whispering through windows, I see two housewives, one indoors and one outside, both leaning against the windowsill having a nice, private chat with each other.

Here's an idea...maybe whispering between windows should increase the chance of being overheard.

That's actually quite a brilliant solution.
