RP getting affected by work. What do you do?

Postby Pedrones » Thu Aug 08, 2013 1:49 am

I was on vacation when i started playing and was having the time of my life finding ways of RPing and trying to fix mistakes that I make that will spoil it for others. After getting back to work I just get home real late and I don't have the time that I had before to get "in character"... I've been RPing that I'm doing and saying stuff but I don't get that "this is what my character would have said" feeling anymore. Do you guys have any tips for times like those?

I've been thinking that maybe I should just go to a new place with my chars so I can start new relationships. Since my play time has been diminished it must be weird for the other players to whom I was more heavily engaged in RP with, to see me doing nothing and I think maybe I am trying to hard to not spoil it for them because of that. Maybe a new start is what I need, but I wanted to hear what you guys do whenever you come across such things. I'm just starting so maybe it's only lack of expirience, who knows. lol

Don't worry about it, there's lots of players who start off strong then either lose interest some, or get busy, or whatever. People are use to new spawns getting quieter. Just enjoy the time you're on, and don't worry about trying to please others.

Yeah, first off, what's most important is that you enjoy your time here.

If giving others some memorable moments is your goal though, I think you just need to take some time to find that 'middle ground'. I've gone through phases that have seen my characters wakeful and bouncing off the walls for 18 hours a day, and I've gone through phases that have seen the same characters sleeping and not even working for up to a real life year.

As the duration of your time here extends, the wider the variety of your activities that others consider 'normal'. I'd say, don't let your thinking get too deep over it. I've seen people think so hard to decide on something so 'ideal', that they've ended up doing nothing because the moment has passed. Characters have sleepy phases. That's a fact, and even the most wakeful characters have to go a little quiet 'sometimes'.

If it's the individual characters you're worrying about, more than overall, perhaps there could be a reason why they've been so distracted. Fixed on coming up with a business plan, or really deep in thought about an exploration adventure opportunity. Maybe they're considering a town move, as you said... Or maybe, if you like to follow trends, your character is hearing voices and listening intently.

Alright, guys. Thanks! Yeah, I wasn't able to login yesterday nor the day before that... I only have 3 characters, cause I think I'd mix them up accidentaly if I had more, but just one area really lowered activities by much and even so they still RPd a thing or another and would probably liven up if they felt that I wasn't gonna play anymore. I'll just play when I have enough free time for it and let people get used to my play schedule... I was quite silly, wasn't I? Hehehe Thanks for answering, it was helpful.
