this post probably belongs in the "things that annoy you about cantr" thread, but then again this complaint is mostly a complaint to the players, not the game.

why is it that when i am talking to someone and the first thing i say in my reply is there name, there is still a fair chance it will go ignored? and we're not talking about me saying something yesterday and being mad they didn't reply today because they weren't online yesterday. i totally understand that. i'm talking about when i ask something roughly 10 minutes ago and the question goes unanswered. sometimes when i am ALREADY in mid conversation with them! (i've had this issue twice now since my return)

or they don't RP until they have no choice but to wake up to switch projects. again, this is while i am in mid conversation with them. and they switch the project the second their first one is done. suggesting they've been online the whole time, or at least within the past 5 minutes but said nothing until just now. (happened once)

and towns where people do nothing but milk sheep and farm rice. yay. that always fun, until a gang of pirates kills everyone because we can't fight back with bone weapons and rice pudding. (currently in 6 different towns that are similar to this. 8 if i also count the two towns that i am somewhat enjoying being in despite the lack of interesting projects.)

contrary to bad RP is also "pointless RP". where people will whine about something retarded, RP with themselves (admittedly one of my toons is guilty of this and i am getting sick of it) or otherwise do something like "*wakes up and lets out a sigh as he furrows his brow looking at his own two hands*"....and there is no real reason for the character to be depressed, confused, angry or even looking at his/her hands. all the while not saying what is on their mind.

you wanna make cantr more interesting? then stop making it harder on other people to RP with you!

Yes, the thread was locked by staff for being too offensive.

Maybe they just don't want to RP with you? I'm pretty sure bashing them on the forums won't do anything to encourage a change, regardless.

true. they could keep on RPing with the same 2 or 3 people and ignore the rest of the town. whatever makes them happy i guess.

but poor RP is better than no RP especially when attention is being directed to you and your not responding.

A lot of what you talk about is called simming. Not bad RP. And IMHO any simming is better than most RP.

I RP or sim by myself all the time. Even if my char is locked up in jail. Sometimes in sleepy towns it can get something started. If this is bad RP then I am the worst RP'er of all time.

I suspect that some do this in order to give the heads up to everyone that they are awake and available to interact. I know that I have done similar kinds of things.... when there isn't really anything to respond to but your character is feeling restless and wants to do something about it. And really... how do you know that the character has no reason to be depressed or confused or angry etc? Perhaps if your character reacts to the other you might actually find out something about that character that you didn't know. And it's that kind of thing that makes cantr more interesting.

So, a while ago I was on Cantr in that one place with the stuff, and there was this character there with a thing, and they kept doing this one thing and it bothered me so much! I don't understand why they were doing it! It was awful, and I can't stand to be around that character anymore because of the thing!

First I will admit I am horrible at rp but I am trying to do better.I did have a character mentioned on rp praise thread the other day so I'm getting better. But my point of posting.

OP I have gathered I have characters in at least two cities you do and a previous one as well it appears based on your other posts. One of those is my absolute favorite even though there aren't many active people. Those that are active I enjoy playing with a lot. The other seems very active probably the most I have ever seen.
Maybe active and good rp is different as well but I have been making an effort to do better on that in my part lately.
As far as the quote about furrowing brow and looking at his hands. I am almost positive I know who you are talking about. If so he is a great role player as he is insane. There are people all over the island that hate him and at least one, I suspect more, that want to see him dead. I may be mistaken on who you were referring to but if people 6 or 7 cities away hate your character you are doing a great job at rp.

it's awesome RP if it can wake people up, and even more awesome if you use notes somehow, which is at least something people can read after they loot your rotting corpse in jail.

I wonder if any one had felt I was... Pm if so maybe we can find out what I can improve on...
