Character Questions

I have alot of curiosities about what people do in their Cantr life. Like, Have you ever gotten married? Or stole something? Maybe even became a pirate?

Well that's what this is for, my own little answer seeker!

Im just gonna post my questions, then when i am satisfied with the answers, i will ask another

So, i want to know if anyone has ever survived on their own for their whole life. Gathering their own food and staying safe.

Also, how did you do it?

That question is a little tough, since you need to have at least two other characters in the location in order to spawn. Even when I was previously playing, I can't remember actually having a character who was always alone. I definitely had then and have now characters who are loners. I currently have a character who was in a desolate town with only his partner, and now his partner has died. So... he's stuck and alone and trying to make the best of it.

And I have others who prefer to be alone because they find other people are annoying and inconvenient.

Well, until recently I had my first experience with having to really work to survive. It was difficult because the only food in the location was from the wildlife, and he was an awful hunter. Thankfully, the animals weren't that aggressive, and there was a fire pit that he could cook with. When he felt like he had enough food to survive for a while, he moved his way on to a larger town and now he doesn't have to work as much. It was definitely a neat experience, though.

I think about four or five of my characters have been married before, probably about twenty have been locked up for various lengths of time for crimes ranging from theft to murder, and overall my characters have probably killed fifty people via various methods and motives, plus one that wasn't his fault but the victim died due to being killed whilst being kidnapped (No NDS in those days, unfortunately).

Out of my characters, several have killed someone, some even several people. Probably way less than 50 though.

Out of my living characters, one is currently married, one is a widow, although they never had a ceremony in the first place, they just agreed to be married, and 5 are in relationships, although some aren't very active. Out of my dead 7 were married or at least engaged (wow, that's a lot), can't remember for sure. Most were in relationships or at least got laid at some point in their lives. I think 9 of my characters have died a virgin, and that's sort of a lot too.

Many of my characters have stolen something, actually most of them would take things if no one was watching, or gather resources in a town where it was forbidden without asking for permission.

Out of my living characters, 3 have gotten locked up, one for being a creep and attacking innocents for fun, one for being stubborn and one for being naïve and gullible. Out of my dead characters, 8 have gotten locked up, one was one of the first victims of the Barons, one because someone tried to take over his hometown and he was easy to drag, one because he was attacking innocent people, one for insulting a town (good old days!), one because her friends got caught of poaching and she was in the wrong company, one got apparently accidentally locked inside when his trade partner had to go handle some matter and forgot about him, one was a slave at one point and one got dragged inside by a mob of 3 people because they considered her unfit to lead.

Out of my dead characters, four got killed by other people (although one of them asked for it), two killed themselves with swords (guy killed me Mal, killed me with a sword!) 4 got heart attacks back when you could still ask for one, 2 accidentally starved to death and 10 intentionally starved to death.

One of my characters has been a pirate but he's mostly retired. Also one used a darter to attack a certain group, which could be seen as an act of piracy, but he saw himself as a freedom fighter.

Some of my characters have spent most of their lives alone, but no one has ever gone their whole life not seeing anybody.

Has anyone ever killed thier spouse? Or themselves?

One let his wife die of starvation because she was sleeping. Another one accidentally forgot to keep an eye on his wife, so she also starved. But as I wrote above, several of my characters have killed themselves.

Just because 2 others have to be there, doesn't mean you aren't alone... 2 sleepers can spawn a third.. doesn't mean they were active in any manor

I have 24 dead and 15 living.

Out of the 14 chars I've ever had:

Only one is not a virgin.

Two were engaged to be married; one killed her fiance, the other's fiance broke it off.
Two others had official boyfriend/girlfriend situations. In both cases the other one died.
Six of mine have had romantic attractions to other characters but the object of their attractions didn't share the attraction or died/fell asleep before anything could happen.

My eldest living has killed three people, one being her fiance. It was after the hack attack that left the game down for like three months, and she couldn't bear to see him being mauled by animals in his sleep, so she took his life so he wouldn't suffer any longer. Some months later his player returned to Cantr and PM'd me about it. The other two people she killed were trying to kill her because she and her then-alive fiance were in what was apparently their home. She saw it as defending herself; they probably saw the same thing of themselves.
One of my dead ones killed one or two people...rather, executed a "dangerous sexual predator".

Two of my characters died via heart attack back when you could still ask for them. Three died intentionally starving themselves, and two died unintentionally starving themselves.

None of them have ever been locked up, except for Snick, who locked herself up in the town jail when she was hiding from the Dory massacrists.

I had a character once who was basically alone for decades on the island of Fu. This would have been at least 70 in-game years ago when he died. He was just kind of an adventurer type, amoral, kind of cracked in the head.

He stole a ship and a decade's worth of smoked meat, and stocked the ship with all the parts and materials for a dirt motorbike... can't remember if he did this on purpose or it just so happened he had everything he needed when he got where he was going. It was a very well stocked ship, material and machine wise. Anyway he ended up striking out rather randomly and ran into the island of Fu, near Port Gallagher I think.

Built the motorbike and set off into the forest. It seemed to go on forever. That island is f'ing big. I mean he traveled a couple of years, forest town to forest town, very little food to be had, until he finally reached a massive grassland at the far edge of that forest. Some food to be had there so he settled. Hand gathered enough wood from the neighboring forest and built a wood hut. That all took a couple of years at least. Went all the way across the grass sea to the mountains to gather stone, came back, built a stone table. Back across the grass sea for more stone, to build a kiln. I think I may have finished the kiln. I was working toward the ability to make iron at least, and had hematite crushed into iron ore. I wanted to lock the building, can't remember if I did or could ever. I know I was trying to figure out how to make charcoal or something. I don't know if you can imagine how many years of solitary game play all of this adds up to, especially counting the sheer distances between things on that island.

One guy did come through there once... I often wondered what he thought, stumbling across a hermit settlement so far off the beaten path that there was hardly even a path. I didn't talk to him much, and he was the only other person I ever saw there in 2-3 decades of living.

Anyway RL got complicated and I closed my account, but almost more than anything else I ever think about past play, I wonder who ever found his body and what they thought about finding that building and kiln and table there, and if that place is a town today, although judging from the current IG maps it seems unlikely.

Jesus, my memory is bad. The above post contains factual errors/mistakes.

The char was Kyrion Jayhawk, I think my first ever character spawned. Was a Blackrock for a decade, left when a choice was forced and possibly because of multiple chars on that small island. Didn't steal the ship, I think it was given him or he built it.

Anyway if anyone ever came across notes from Kyrion Jayhawk in the middle of a godforsaken wilderness, let me know.


To answer other questions:

Never been married I think. Lots of great romances though. And I officiated at someone else's wedding once.
Killed many.
Went to prison many times.
