Cantr II Discussion Forum

So, I've been looking everywhere for this question on the forums and on the wiki etc, but I can't find what time night time is in Cantr. I've seen something that said the day starts at 0 but if the day starts at 0 then when does night start? Is there a night time or do you just role play that without a defined time for night to be?

I think a lot of people assume that if it night for them, then it is night in Cantr and so on. As there is no need for concepts such as night and day in Cantr, there isn't really a set time period for either.

Well there should be I know you don't think it's necessary but I think it's brilliant and it adds a whole new depth to the game.

EDIT: Oooo ooo ooo actually there could be a message that pops up indicating the sun setting or the sun is rising and or it is night or it is day, that'd be pretty neat.

How would you split the day into day and night, though?

By using the method I edited into my post like a boss where it sends indication through a message the same way it does when you eat and such.

I just always assumed Cantr was a quite different world with a constant murky green twilight all day long. Obviously from the background on the page and I disregard the photos on the locatioin pages

Currently there is no day or night in Cantr. Some people role-play it, but it becomes very annoying for people from other time-zones. Weather will eventually be introduced in Cantr, and it will rotate over a new sort of periodic cycle, which could be broken down into seasons, days and nights, but we will see about that.

Honestly, night for me is when it's night for the majority of the players in the town. The Aussie there seemed to go along with it. He was just a day sleeper.

Usually morning tends to be when I get home from work, so it's weird the few times I have time to play in the morning before going to work, because that must be evening/night for the others.

I never rp night and day, but I've always envisioned it being between 7-0 and 0-1 hours Cantr time. In real life, I divide the day into quarters, 6 hours of each morning, afternoon, evening and night... Which, in my mind divides Cantr into 2 hours of each.

The reason I won't roleplay this is for respect of others. Cantr morning starts in my morning, so I can call it morning without issue. But meanwhile, the other end of the world, players are just jumping on for their characters to wake just in time to see bed time... That's no fun.

In game, when the topic comes up... I just say "It is bed time when you are tired. Everybody has their own bed time to suit their own lives. We are individuals, not a synchronized world of organized society."

Word! Until the game mechanics or rules/recommendations define what a day (which is actually semi-defined as "One Cantr-day is equivalent to one real-world day" on the wiki, which is rather meaningless in this context, since a "day" measurement means absolutely nothing if it has no timezone context to apply itself on) or night is, all my characters will frown upon characters that role play it.

Well the whole reason I asked was because I was on a ship getting ready to head into town and it was getting night time here because we had been waiting to go into town all day and I envisioned my character watching the sunset on the ship waiting for everyone to be ready and that's when I realized I didn't know what time night time was in Cantr, so upon doing research I found this out and it made me sad.

for polish zone it is a bit easier, as we all polish-speakers are in one timezone
i can expect some confusion for english speakers tho :)
in one mmorpg guild one of friends was saying "good morning" when it was our late evening, he was from australia :))))

btw. are there any freedom fries in cantr
