Why haven't I ever been a pirate?

Postby theredbarons » Wed Jun 05, 2013 12:00 am

Okay, I don't normally like to complain, but I'd like to take this time to address something which has been bothering me. I have been playing this glorious game known as cantr for years now (off and on) and not once, NOT ONCE, have I been a member of a roving pirate group. I've been a Blackrock, I've been a MacGregor, I've even been been thrown in jail for refusing to return a pair of silk pants, but I've never been a pirate. No rum, no kidnapping, no mutinies. Nothing. What gives guys? Is it me? Am I not pirate enough material? Please explain. This is all I want guys.

I just want to be Captain Hart. That's all. Is that too much to ask?

First, you need to learn to swore like a pirate.
Second, you need to steal a ship and get away with it.
Third, (optional) You need to find a crew.
Fourth, You need amass riches and loot villages, raid vehicles and rob people.
Sixth, (optional) Cause fear and terror.

Congratulations, you are now a pirate enough material! :P

It might have something to do with the lack of "big" pirate groups...

I had a pirate once, a guy out of the Drofj area called Atlantis Skycloud (his house still had his name on it up until recently, but since it became a MacGregor town again that sign is now removed). I can't remember much about him as I played him back in 2003 or so.

The problem is that when you recruit people for a pirate crew, it's more likely that people are going to attack you or alert the authorities than join a crew. It would be cool if there was some place like Tortuga in Pirates of the Caribbean where you could hire crew and play with whores and authorities wouldn't touch it.

Everybody could make an OOC agreement not to attack it and pirates could make an agreement not to finish off active victims in near-death state.

I think it would improve the game if there were more pirates, but not if they killed people with no rp. So if someone made a place like Tortuga, people could look the other way even if they knew where it was, but this would only make sense if the pirates made the game more interesting for the victims instead of just ending the game for them.

I agree, it would be a nice trade off. It's a given that any pirate base, no matter how well hidden, would be found, and once found, everyone there slaughtered. The spice isles would make a great pirate base if they weren't so far from the other islands.

Meh, most pirates I have met aren't well done characters. Not really worth the effort of trying to form some kind of tortuga and probably getting banned, if we were gonna consider a crb lets look at a militaristic empire or a religion!

I could only play a nice pirate.

Excuse me, I'm terribly sorry to intrude, but could you please hand me the keys to your town so my mates and I can loot it? I don't want to hurt anyone. Thank you so much in advance!"
