Your Take on Healing Food

I was going to post this as a reply to the "get rid of insta-healing" topic in the suggestions forum, but then I decided it would better go there since it has no actual feedback or opinion with whether or not insta-healing should go away. (I'm against it going away, btw. But that's not the point.)
What I want to know is how you people roleplay with healing food.
- Does it magicially heal your character instantly regardless of the severity of the injury?
- Do you purposely ingest healing food slowly in order to support roleplaying slow (and realistic) healing with the mechanics?
- etcetcetc
My response:
I've done the whole roleplay "sldkfhlagd I just got trampled by this elephant and all my bones are broken and there's so much blood" (okay, maybe not to that point, but still) thing, and I've also done the insta-heal. I think I shifted towards the latter lately because characters around me weren't very likely or happy to roleplay with the whole injured thing. And when I do play injured with the others around my characters, they generally treat the healing food's effects like narcotic painkillers rather than instant healing.
Scenario A: a majorly injured character in an injured-rp-friendly environment
You see elephant attack Snickie's char.
Snickie's char says: "Adalgkhdsf I just got impaled by the tusk of this elephant, it barely missed my important internal organs but ALKDSFHPROFANITIES IT HUUUURRRRRTTSSSS!!!!! Somebody get me some bleeping raisins here, I NEED PAIN RELIEF AND I NEED IT NOW!!!"
Someone else's char says: "Oh my gosh, that's awful! Here, have some raisins!"
You see Someone else's char give Snickie's char some raisins.
Snickie's char consumes all the raisins.
Snickie's char says: "Ahhh, that feels so much better.... but... I don't think I'll be able to walk anytime soon."
Someone else's char says: "That's okay, we'll help you."
Snickie says: "Hooray!"
Scenario B: a lesser injured character with a high pain tolerance
You see tiger attack Snickie's char.
Snickie's char consumes some honey.
Snickie's char says: "Agh, another tiger scratch? -smears honey on it- That'll make it heal faster. -goes back to harvesting potatoes or other strenuous physical labor-"
Other people say: "O_o whatever d00d."
Scenario C: a majorly injured character in an injured-rp-non-friendly environment
You see bear attack Snickie's char.
Snickie's char says: "-falls and takes a nasty bite to the leg- Ohmygod, I just got bit by a bear. -tries to move it- Omigod it HURTS! Agh! I can't walk! Somebody, help me!"
Someone else's char says: "Suck it up, you bleep."
Snickie says: "Jerk. >:I"
