Time passing - daylight and seasons - compass rose

how we can decide if is day or night? according to our own wish?
same on cold/hot season. have we a pair in a year. or is like on game of thrones, with larges seasons matching with real time seasons.
we have sun on skies? moon? stars? clouds? fog?
if someone decide to roleplay this, we need to implicitly agree or express disagree by an OOC way?
i just have one condition to roleplay this. the point where the sun rises is called East and the exact opposite is called West. Or it is just OOC info and need to stay out of the game too?

I think hot/cold is common sense. If your town has coconuts or tropical/subtropical animals, it's probably warm. If you're in a mountain, it's probably cold. If you're in a desert, if it's day, it's probably hot, and if it's night, it's probably cold. If you have mammoths or tundra fauna, it's probably cold.
We know there's a sun because the terrain pictures show light.
I play my characters with the assumption that Cantr is an Earth-like world complete with a moon, stars, blue sky, and clouds. If I'm role-playing with people in roughly the same time zone as me, I play night and day. If not (you Aussies), I just say "Good day" and leave it at that.
I don't know where the sun rises and sets, and I don't really think it's relevant. In all these years, I've never had a need to role-play that.
I've never seen anyone role-playing seasons, and I've never role-played them.

Day and night is always a tricky thing, mostly I just say good morning when it's morning where I live, and good evening when it evening, stuff like that... And yeah, then sometimes people say good night back, guess in cantr, that isn't too weird. Roleplaying time often isn't very consistent too, I noticed in the not too long time I've played now.
Then, about sun, moon, stars, etc. I did roleplay looking at stars, or the sun, for that matter... Never imagined that there are clouds, though. Just though nice blue sky, always, except from the few times we saw some weather... I guess its 'no weather -> no clouds', right? And then again, fog too, is weather, so, I'd say, doesn't exist (yet).
Sunrise/sunset is not really specified, I think, so you can just do whatever you like, I guess... If you want the sun to rise in the southwest, I don't really think many people will find it weird.

I have always thought that Cantr world is very much close to our real world.
If there is a sun and no clouds. Where does all that water go that sun boils into "clouds"? They just... dissappear?
If there no moon and no stars? How can one see anything at night? It is dark like in a sack. Unless someone lights a candle etc.
How about the plants then? If there's no sun, how there will be plants and photosynthesis. Where do we get the oxygen or do cantrian beings live without lungs?
There are many scientific reasons, where there has to be moon, sun, stars etc.
So i say, they are true!

I've roleplayed moon and stars, clouds and wind, never seasons, but since my charries have seen some weather, it now exists in their world, so no reason why they couldn't notice lightening in the distance, or roleplay some rain or another rainbow I would think.
I think it makes more sense, since our players are from all time zones in the world, to roleplay time of day according to the time it is in Cantr. If it's 6 or 7, that's would be nighttime, and if it's 1 or 2, that would be the best time to say 'good morning'. I've roleplayed this way quite a bit, but I find that it is less common in Cantr than it used to be. If we were to all do that, it would be easier to roleplay nighttime and darkness, it would be the same for all our characters. I had one situation where I tried, but the leader said it was morning to him, so it wasn't okay to act like it was dark. That stifles a lot of potential rp.

True, but could be less fun for some players... That way, you force people always rp'ing in the night, while they maybe want to play day sometimes, too...

True, I see your point, though not many rp any time of day anyways, so it's usually always daytime I guess.

Yeah... Much more rping time than saying good morning or evening isn't done very often. I guess daytime is a good 'default' setting for rp, night just coming in if needed... That's how I usually do it, at least.
About the moon, by the way... Does Cantr have a moon, anyway? Or maybe, two, three, four?

My character's religion requires Cantr to have a moon, and, if there's no moon, explain the "tides" that characters are always saying move their ships

about clouds, i Rp sometimes a "good weather" cloud, just the ones that cross the sky and just can be watched if u feels boring.

In the real world the magic doesn't exist neither and the humans always explain the things they can't understand with MAGIC
It's the same; the magic doesn't exist in Cantr, but that doesn't mean our chars can't say that the things they don't understand happen by MAGIC.
"Oh! the wood floats! It's magic!!!"

Four moons would perfectly explain the tides, right? Why did no one ever think of that before?

How do you know there's 4 moons and not that the one moon orbits 4X faster?
Also, more than one moon would have a pretty erratic effect on the tides. If they were equally spaced, they would actually cancel each other out.
