Yikes! in-game OMG, LOL, LMAO etc maybe a 'new player guide'

I can't talk too much about the in-game situation that has led me to post this, 4 day rule. But needless to say I am faced with a player using text speak. I know this has been talked about in the forums before, I am usually supportive of people who's spelling and grammar isn't perfect, I know mine isn't. But responding with "OMG LMAO" leaves my character thinking you are speaking nonsense!

Maybe it wouldnt hurt to have a new player guide sent to every new player. I know some wouldn't read it, perhaps titling it "IMPORTANT read before entering CANTR or you will look like a complete moron" might prompt a few more to take notice.

Sorry guys, had to rant.... I've stopped now.

You can hope they might read this?
Otherwise... just have your char not understad what they are saying in-game, or politely tell them OOC (also spellng out just what 'OOC' means, as I didn't when someone first used it to me in game) to stop, and explain why it's a pain in the arse.

It's funny up to a point, but becomes very grating after a while.

I generally refer people to the wiki and the "First Day" tutorial. It does (briefly) cover the use of things like lol and smiley faces but may want to point it out in your ooc message to them. I have a few chars who would tell the person to speak more clearly because they're mumbling, then I follow it with a more tactful/polite ooc whisper.

Thanks, I had forgotten about the wiki main page.
