Error

Postby Henkie » Sun Feb 12, 2012 8:23 pm

TRanslation:
ERROR: You have exceeded the maximum number of characters. One of your young characters recently died which is still using one of your character-places. A new character can be made in 27 days. =

But but but but Doug R. told me on the forum I should fill the last spot because you guys got rid of this policy :S

I started searching but then the search-engine went offline :(

It was I think when I said something about my character male/female equation

Hmm.. Found it!

My reply to the thread:

Henkie wrote:I personally think there is quite a challenge in playing opposite sexes, therefor I always keep my male/female ratio an exact 50/50 and I do not reach 15 chars, always 14 so I can spawn a new one right away when one dies :P

Your answer:

Doug R. wrote:You can go ahead and fill that 15th slot. We recently changed it so you always have one character slot available, even if it normally would be locked.

So, kill off all your chracters and you would still have 1 slot fot a new character. :)

I misunderstood Henkie's statement to mean that he was saving one slot for if all his characters die.

Maybe, they didn't actually make a change so that if you kill a character off you can replace it immediately? I used to think older characters that died could be replaced quickly but looks like not. All may have to wait a number of days.

And that if you kill off all your characters, you can make one again immediately, but only one? Presumably you must wait the usual time for number two?

Old characters dying shouldn't cause slots to get blocked. If they do then it's a bug. The waiting time was introduced to discourage people from having suicidal newspawns and killing off characters with bad stats.

Truth be told, it was a newspawn and she did die. (not really suicidal though)

And no EchoMan, you understood just like Doug did.. And I didn't, and Addicted didn't either ;)

The way that was worded in that thread was a little confusing. Now I think more people are getting confused on other things related to it, so...

If an older character dies, you can replace it right away (older as in over 25, right?).

If a newspawn dies, you cannot replace it right away...

UNLESS...

You have no characters left alive when that newspawn dies.

So essentially, you can have 15 newspawns... kill all of them, and then you can spawn one more character (whereas without this mechanic, you'd be SOL and unable to play Cantr until one of them would have been 25). So you always have a character slot available should you be unfortunate and lose all your characters in their early youth.

Of course if you had older characters when all yours were wiped out, then this wouldn't take effect because you'd have those older character slots that you could fill.

Hopefully I stated all that correctly. If not, I have no fear that someone shall set me to rights.

Thanks. So nothing has changed then.
