Have you ever "seen" a character in real life?

I once saw a waitress that I thought looked very much like Marlie Sunrise. I kept staring at her the whole meal.

Also, there's a woman down the hall from where I work that looks similar to Olga Blackrock, though I knew Olga before this woman showed up. I'd get a pic on my phone, but I can't risk looking like some kind of stalker creep.

Oh, and this thread could be for clothes, looks, or both. In my two cases, it's strictly on looks, not clothes.

O:O this is a very unexpected thread. Hmm I think I have sometimes thought of some people being like chars but I can't remember who at the moment. Interesting thread but I will need some time to think about it

The simple answer is no, and I quite like Cantr to end at my laptop keyboard, and my (free floating) imagination.
I can only imagine it ending in tears, if I go around living in such a blurred boundary.

Sorry

Well, this is the kind of obsevration that engendered my "casting Cantr: the Movie" thread viewtopic.php?f=32&t=22364 I hope you get more responses than I did, Doug. (so, the implicit answer to your question is for me, "yes", if you include "on TV" as "in real life" ;-) )

Well, putting it into a forum almost no one reads definitely didn't help your thread, gejyspa. I moved it to here.

I've often based my characters off real life people. I did once see what I thought was dead on to an FTO character of mine. She was cutting my hair.

I saw a girl at school who looked a lot like Offering, except taller. It was mainly the hair.

Eight of my characters' appearances were not based off an already existing person. I have yet to see any RL person who resemble those, although I've seen parts of people who resemble parts of those characters, but never just one person who matches completely.

Yes! I was thinking of starting a thread like this at one point because I have seen a couple characters in real life. But they've both been at work, so by the time I get home, I've forgotten all about it. One is my own character and the other is someone else's that my other character is very emotionally attached to.

The one that is my character is one of my customers at the bank/he works in one of the offices that is in the same building as my bank, so he comes in quite a bit. The first time or two that I waited on him I kept trying to figure out where I recognized him from and then when it finally hit me I had to keep myself from grinning. And we're supposed to greet each customer by name if they come in and we know them, so I've caught myself about to call him the wrong name before.

The one that my character is attached to is a little awkward because he's my boss if he was older and all his muscle turned to fat.
So I've had the same problem with accidentally almost calling my boss the wrong name. It's also kind of weird because sometimes I find myself expecting my boss to act a certain way in a situation and he doesn't. But the smile and the laugh fit perfectly.

So to pass time sometimes I try to look for people who look like other Cantr characters. I haven't had much luck though.

Three cases of seeing someone in RL who could be Cantr chars...

- For those who know Ross Lansinger in Desolate Dunes, long after Ross spawned (around his 40's or 50's) an old friend of mine who's obvlivious to the existence of internet and computers in general, showed up with an old hippie-type friend of his.
While I can't think of Ross as a hippie, right away it hit me that this guy in RL had Ross' looks, and a voice which I actually imagined Ross to sound like before meeting this guy.
Thanks to those similarities, there's now one more guy who I have to buy a beer whenever I run into him at the bar, damn Ross is costing me money

- Some time after I came up with Ox Crabrock (who gets a lot of his character from myself), one of my nieces started dating a guy who has the tallness, muscle, and readiness to get down and dirty in a fight if need be which Ox also has.
And generally I don't like to mingle with the younger generations, but based on the whole Ox-likeness (though Ox is still taller and bigger, and probably stronger... eat that, younger guy who my niece is dating  ) this guy definitely ended up getting me curious.
Next month we'll be getting married, and he damn better be aware that he'll be wearing the dress
(No, seriously, him and me ended up being good friends, to the point where I gladly buy the guy a few drinks and even have long conversations with him... but there's no way in hell that we're spooning eachother  )

- During easter, I met an old man in a certain part of the country who could have been the Dutch version of Loki Fyresmythe, or at least how I imagined Loki to be back in those days.
He spoke in the dialect which had been spoken in his village for hundreds of years, making him hard to understand even for other hard-line Groningers (Groningers, inhabitants of the province Groningen in the Netherlands).
But it's true what they say, share enough booze with a man, and even if he's speaking Japanese and you're speaking Greek, you'll understand eachother, or at least think you understand eachother :p

If my hair was a bit longer and my shoulders a bit broader, I'd look a lot like Gimp right when I first wake up in the morning, lol.

My friend (who I met after the character) looks and acts just like Maryse Sidewinder. Well...she doesn't completely act like her, but there are so many similarities I find it odd and funny at the same time. The only difference is, she doesn't dress like her.

I met a guy that looked like one of my chars, exactly how I picture him, just a bit older. I couldn't help staring at him persistently... and guess he figured out I was trying to get off with him or something, it was quite shameful and confused at the end, but yet very funny that "my char" gave me his phone number

The other day, I was about leaving to have a quick beer with some friends and I stopped in front of the mirror to see if there was something I could do with my fringe and I noticed I was dressed just exactly as one of my chars -yup, I'm gonna give away THAT skirt!-

After getting his number, you instinctively ask, What radio frequency should I use?
