What do your characters sound like?

It's a very under-described character feature, so I figured I'd bring it to the fore. I myself have no idea what my characters sound like. I figure that each character they interact with has a different idea of that.

I know what all of my characters sound like, and yes, of course, I have an internal voice for most of those they interact with as well.

I hadn't actually thought about that before, but now that you bring it up I actually do have a pretty clear idea of what each of my characters sounds like. Must have decided it subconsciously. I definitely don't do it for other characters on a regular basis, though.

Only two of mine have a reference to the way they sound within their description(One has a very posh accent; I have always heard her very clearly & that part of the desc has been there from day one. The other is merely softly spoken). A third, without any reference to it, I am sure is perceived as loud.
I can hear the voices of all mine and the characters they interact with, too. Some of those sound really interesting to me, with a few players pulling off the different accents - Luke of Pok is the first name that comes to my mind.

I do attribute emotion and tone to other characters' voices when they speak, even if it is not emoted (the attributed qualities being consistent with the content, of course), which is similar to what my daughter calls "reading with expressions".

If anyone wants to PM me what they think my characters sound like, go for it. I'm particularly interested in how people perceive my girls.

I don't know why I don't think about this more. I have a very distinctive accent myself, and it sticks out in the region where I currently live.
I have only one character that has any reference to how they speak, but it more intended to portray a demeanour, and in truth, it has only ever been recognised by one other character.

I do love it when my characters interact with people who write as they speak though, and wish I could do this more myself. There is one that I have that could have had me pay more attention to this.

I sometimes imagine Coventina sounding like Inara from Firefly.

Each of my chars has a different voice to me but I've only included some sort of vocal reference in a few chars' descriptions. Most of mine don't have a distinct sound that would be worth mentioning (her/his voice is nothing worth mentioning? :P ), and some are more easily expressed through their words or emotes. Not sure if it's a sign I've put more thought into my "newer" chars or if they just really stood out to me as having something distinct, but it's my youngest ones that have at least some reference made.

I do agree that it's a characteristic that is under-described.

For some reason, half of my males have nasally voices when they talk in my head. Their common denominator is that they both have accents/impediments of sorts.
Male #1 sounds like a nasal version of my grandfather.
Male #3 is definitely nasal, and tenor-ranged.
Male #4 has a really deep, dark voice.
Male #2 sounds like the guy he's based off of in real life.

Female #1 is supposed to be a soprano, a voice that would sound good musically or something like that.
Female #2 (Snick) is an alto-voice and sounds not too much unlike my mom.
Female #3....I know how she sounds, but I just don't know how to describe it in words.
Female #4 doesn't talk much, so I don't worry about it, but when she does, she sounds garbled and maybe with a slight lisp too.
Female #5 sounds like a six-year-old girl.
Female #6 is my Spanish character and she speaks with a Puerto Rican accent, which means she can't say her "th"'s, but that's hard to RP in-game when she's speaking Spanish.
Female #7 sounds like me.
Female #8 has a loud voice, kind of a cross between Female #5 and Female #4.
Female #9....I don't really know what she sounds like, actually.
Female #10...I can name her range, which is somewhere mezzosoprano, and has the kind of voice that sounds really great when laughing, like she's laughing for no other reason than she loves to laugh.

I try a few different accents...my most annoying char has an upper east coast accent and sounds like he is from jersey/new york. Has the attitude and ego for it and has endeared himself to some, and really turned off some. You know him Doug, at least I try to keep him in character and the accent has faded over the years. But no too, too much.

Second has a very southern accent, when it comes to spelling he has alot of the same words and unique phrasing of the first. But in my mind he reminds me of a few of the very wise (surprisingly) southern farmers I grew up knowing. Not saying he is wise, but he sounds like them as far as accent.

My female has a noticeably unique speech pattern, but I have kept that one secret for a long time and will for the moment.

Another has very staccato speech patterns.

My other (formerly) religious one I envision as slow spoken and soft voiced.

The other few are basically me...cynical smart-alecks.

Ultimately, I have come to the conclusion that a accent based and speech impediment player is often not worth the effort. I have rigorously tried to stay in char, but its not always appreciated or understood.

I have only one character with a peculiarity in his speech. Most of my characters are english (I have five spanish characters, but three of them have been in english areas since... well, forever, so they barely speak spanish anymore), and I don't know the language so well to play them with an accent.

As for how they sound... I "hear" their voices in my head as I write, as well as the voices of the characters they often interact with as I read. I have to mention two character of two different players whose voices and accents are really clear in my head. One of them is a woman, with a "cut-glass" accent, that I "hear" as if someone was making music with cristal cups. The other one is a man with a soft, deep voice, that always speaks in a very slow and calmed way; this one has an "accent" in my head that I'm not sure it exists in rl.

Sometimes, I have a hard time understanding what those characters with a thick accent are saying (Bruce McInnis comes to my mind), but I think I'm getting most of what they say from the context. I find it interesting, and somehow cute, though I don't have any idea of how those accents would sound in rl.

As for how my characters sound in my head (sorry if the words to describe them are not very accurated):
Female 1: Spanish accent, medium-tone temperamental voice.
Female 2: Light spanish accent (since she has been struggling to hide that she's spanish since she was attacked for that fact), "formal" and calmed speech.
Female 3: Two "different" voices and ways of speaking, depending on how she feels (she's bipolar, close to split personality)
Female 4: Deep and soft voice, though she sounds firm and decided.
Female 5: Medium-tone, temperamental. A voice "full of life".
Male 1: Deep voice, he usually speaks slowly, except in some very specific moments in which his voice could be considered "dark".
Female 6: Spanish accent, "femenine" voice. She usually speaks fast.
Male 2: Medium-tone, soft speaking, a peculiarity in his speech.
Male 3: Medium-tone, cold speaking.
Male 4: Spanish. Deep voice, calmed speech.
Female 7: Spanish. Medium-tone, very temperamental voice that always betrays her emotions, as much as she tries to control that.

I'm sure about the voice of some of my chars (it is described in, at least, one of them), but I confess that I didn't care about the others... It could be something like that. (Same that Indigo: sorry, not enough vocabulary.)

Female #1: Medium tone. Husky and controlled.
Female #2: High pitched. She always speaks on a low tone.
Female #3: I never thought about it. I think it's medium tone...
Female #4: Like #3, never thought. This should be higher and temperamental... Screechy, maybe. Not nice.
Female #5: Sweet, tuned up, contralto voice. Quick and "alive" speech.
Female #6: High pitched and childish. Sweet.
Female #7: Never care about. Medium tone, calm and controlled, I think.
Female #8: Deep, low and faint, like a whisper.
Female #9: Very high pitched.

Male #1: I say the same that Snickie: "sounds like the guy he's (barely) based off of in real life"... Clean, nice and happy.
Male #2: Childlish and a little broken.
Male #3: Clear and nice. But he can move it into a dark whisper...
Male #4: The one I know better. :) He has a deep, silky voice, too nice, pleasant and calm.
Male #5: Quick speech, his words came out in a jumble.

Edited: All of you who know one of my chars, feel free to PM me your opinions or even to try to guess who is who... xDDDDDDD

What they sound like in my head..(oooo those voices) and what others perceive , are highly likely 2 different things, no matter how they are RP'd.

Ok, here it goes (in age order, as per I Am thread):

-Male: Deep, old man voice. Gravelly, yet piercing if he shouts.
-Female: Sensual, husky contralto.
-Female: ?
-Male: Auron from Final Fantasy (or so I've been told).
-Male: ? (but leaning towards Allan Rickman since that's who he resembles)
-Male: Deep and oafish
-Male: Deep and authoritative
-Male: High-pitched and possibly screechy, almost like a child.
-Female: Feminine, soprano, soft spoken but not difficult to hear.
-Female: Haughty contralto

Am sorry... but none of this is helping me spot any of you in game.
Now I realise this isn't the point of the thread, but what can I say... I'm an opportunist.
