Most Powerful Organizations

Well I think it would be fun to evaluate the most powerful organization currently in the game and from the past.

Current Military Powers:

DoUrden Estates
Alenz Hills
Siom
Seatown Forest (only in defense though, I think they could mount an awesome attack but they wouldn't want to. They only care about their defenses)
The MacGregors
The Alexian Empire

Past Military Powers:

The Alexian Empire from Emperor Romanov to Emperor Hawethorne (still powerful today but it reached its high watermark up to the death of Emperor Hawethorne and General Gartaf)
The Commonwealth (From the rise of Lord Wu Tang to the death of Lord Wu Tang, still powerful today but disorganized and cut off from each realm)
The First Krif Empire

Successful Businesses:

Metalworking Shop of Seatown Forest (owned by James Whitmore also known as John Haskell) and Abbott's Emporium (owned by Stuart Abbott) since the change over to the clothing industry and the merge between the two companies. Both have a good core of active employees.
Alenz Hills Mining Company (Not sure if it can be really considered a business anymore) (owned by Piers Anthony)
DoUrden Mercenary Company (Founded by Zak DoUrden, owned by Robert Smith) wasn't too successful in the beginning stages when it lost their leader and the Alenz Hills Oil Caravan to the Alexian Empire but has since gotten its revenge against the Alexian Empire as well as protected Alenz Hills from attack from the Grand Army of the Alexian Empire.
Blit Forest North Shop (owned by Tony Stewart) hasn't really done much since Lord Stewart replaced Lord Tang but it is still one of the most wealthiest and successful businesses.

Religious Groups:

The Silver Knights (The Unnamed Ones)
The Church of the Keeper
The Church of the Unnamed Ones
Lunatic Larry's Church of the Insane

On K-island, with which I'm obsessed,

all of the most powerful organizations are based in Karnon Forest.
Firecam,
Tribe Blackrock (rebuilding rapidly)
The Collective,
and many more up-and-coming companies and groups.

On K-island, the distinction between business and military power isn't very clear; most of the KF businesses are armed quite heavily due to early power struggles...before everyone agreed just to get along. Hence the reason KF could lock up the only invading army in the island's history with no formal defense system.
The fact that the ENTIRE army had sleeping sickness didn't hurt either.

/only a little off-topic.

I cant' think of anyorganization to add to the list, but want to just point out that the first Krif Empire wasn't very powerful, Maynard's main weapons were propaganda and rhetoric, and very few of his men were armed to any real degree.

That's why I find the various stories that people belive OOC and IC so funny, the Dark Legion couldn't have done what is attributed to them if they'd wanted to.

I have to say most evils in krif were never really evil, like the smoke jaguars, they werent the evil everyone says, take it from me i was their leader. Instead of the region being set back ten years i had alot of plans into making that place into a very wealthy empire.

You aren't the only one, Mailly screwed that region over bigtime, I won't get into anything, but because of the people that Mailly and Gregor has irked latly the region isn't going to know peace anytime soon. The last ten years of work toward peace that Maynard did got flushed away in an instant.

I consider the whole region up for grabs once things start to happen.

A good time for undertakers.

@Brandon: To my understanding, the SJ's first wanted to liberate Krif, and then decided they wanted to control it themselves. My chars have never named them as "evil". But, they were doing alot of things that had to stop. For example, killing anyone who tried to go to Seatown Forest, so that they could control the economic development in the area by brute force, and things like that. Maybe that's not "evil," but you can't play the SJ's off as something that was just "misunderstood."

@Ephiroll:
I'm sure Craktar was very good to his friends, but everyone else was f**ked. Yes, there are harsh regimes that detain people and scare sh*t out of them and such while they maintain their control, but that's a wee bit different that specifically being cruel for the enjoyment of doing so. "Where's my dinner, bitch?" That was for fun, not for maintaining order. Craktar was a sick bastard, regardless of how respected he was by his friends.

Could you give an example of something Maily has done, as well as its effect, that amounts to her having "screwed the region over big-time?"

Simple, she killed Maynard, the one person, that although hated by a few, had the power and respect to pull the region together. Neither Mailly nor Gregor (more people hate those two then ever hated Maynard and the MacGregors are making more enemies as I type this) and defiantly not the sleeping Krif council or the pacifists of Drojf have that ability. Plus, by killing Maynard she made alot of enemies, enemies that aren't going to sit and simply watch what happens. Like Meh said, it's going to be a good time for undertakers, things are still being prepared and aren't in motion yet, but that will change soon.

I see. How is it that Maynard was going to pull the region together? By being it's leader?

Ever since I woke Maynard up on 518 the one thing he worked for was peace, be sorta befriend the MacGregors, Drojf wasn't willing to kill him on sight, and he had contacts throughout the Seatown region. He wouldn't have been a leader (he stepped down from all that to prove that he wanted peace), more of a mediater. But it's just a matter of time before the region falls into chaos again. Firstly because there's no common "enemy" for people to group against so they'll fight amoungst themselves. Secondly, there's not any strong leaders left in the region, who aren't gathering their own hate group, to hold the peace, and if there's no one to hold the peace then it won't last.

People are holding the peace. Also, there is a common enemy, but I shouldn't say until it's been taken care of. It's being taken care of in a joint effort of the bigger towns in the region. Also, there are people who are focusing on a common "good", to take care of the times when there isn't a common "enemy". Something that will bring pride to the region that is a joint effort.

The way I see it is that there are two types of people and groups in that region:

People that want the whole of the region under one rule, namely themselves and they call that peace as a way to justify it.

And people who want the keep the region independent. The people of each area picking their own leaders and government and way of life and not infringing on another area unless their right to self governance is threatened by that area. Some might call it the right to soveriegnty.

That is how I see.

And as long as those two types of people and groups exist in that region there will always be war, fighting, death, heroes from both sides, and villians from both sides.

I have had characters on both sides of the conflict since Day 200 of the game. And the way I see it, it will most likely always be that way. Even if one side takes the advantage the other side will always rise again because, as has been proven in the past, you can never kill all of the other side.

I have a character in krif with the rangers and i have a character in Kfn with the mac gregors. With both of these characters i do have to agree with jerry, rkl and so on, that region is going to be screwed as jerry said earlier, no one will see it happen until its to late and these powers suchs as krifs 'joint' effots and the mac gregors own doing things on their own way of working, fail. Krif is just a doomed place to be.
