Vanishing people

Postby miirkaelisaar » Wed Aug 03, 2011 12:44 am

I thought I saw someone mention something like this once while I was looking for a different topic, but I can't find it now, and I was just curious. A girl just spawned in one of my char's towns and she was very active and talkative, about to work on a project, and the next time I looked she was GONE. I mean gone. I searched my events with ctrl+F and the name I had her under and the last event was her being handed something, she never left, or went in a building, and she wasn't in a vehicle at any time, I could still see every event since she spawned, and no vehicles had left during that time anyway. It weirded me out and I kinda wonder if it affected the player's ability to play the character? I've never seen this before.

EDIT: Also, I think her things were on the ground like she died, but she never died, I don't understand O__o

Where was this? Also, seems like it should be in General Support or some other forum.

You're right, it probably should ^ ^" It happened in Naron Forest and the girl talked and roleplayed and everything, she wasn't like an error, it was really weird.

I believe when people delete their accounts or kill their characters in early days of life their body instantly disappears so that bodies don't pile up of those people who quickly leave.

I think you may be wrong. As far as I know, deleting accounts causes heart attacks, no? Or is that only when you ask to have a char killed?

True that newspawns leave no body, not sure how long it takes for that to change. However, you would still see the character die. Which apparently did not happen in this case.

Yes, I've seen it twice. And Spiders explanation was given by Seko. A new player unsubs and it leaves no body.

Huh, that's so weird ^ ^ It creeped me out. It's too bad 'cause she was active and stuff =\ Oh well. Thanks though. Now I know ^ ^

...and knowing is half the battle!

Correct, it leaves no body if a newer player quits, BUT there is STILL going to be a message saying a man / woman in their early twenties has died when they quit. I agree that something is screwy if you didn't even see that death message. I've seen it happen once and was told that it still should give a death message if the person unsubs but then the body disappears.

Maybe it's a bug? At least it doesn't happen too often...

I've had the exact same thing happen.

viewtopic.php?f=3&t=4843

This topic talks about it briefly around page 9 or 10. If I can find the topic from when I reported my incident, I'll also post that here.

Edit: Found it. viewtopic.php?p=422447#p422447
Edit 2: And another: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=19456

There is nothing to worry about. The incident is a Players Department matter, and did not involve an unsubscription.
