Character Generator

Postby rklenseth » Thu Apr 28, 2011 7:47 pm

As an old player trying to get back into the game (now that I have some time) who has played about every type of character there is to play in Cantr, I found it tough to come up with ideas for new characters rather than play the rather old and stale types that I have played in the past. So I happened upon this site recently, http://nine.frenchboys.net/fantasychar.php , that generates characters with a brief description of their looks, a job (which one could easily make into a goal in Cantr) and some sort of unique quirk. Now while the descriptions are pretty brief it did give me some interesting ideas for new characters.

So I thought I would share this with everybody. Have fun with it. :D

"Teisri is a flirtatious day laborer with dark brown hair and bluish gray eyes, who dresses oddly."

This describes most of the characters in Cantr

Anapia is a polite priestess who carries a lucky coin and has white hair and violet eyes.
Bryra is a brave recluse who is terrified of spiders and has red hair and golden eyes.
Dwitani is a kindly soothsayer with red hair and gray eyes, who is strangely scarred.
Kuiqui is a obsequious middle-aged sculptor with blond hair and bluish gray eyes.
Matsi is a self-conscious interpreter with sandy hair and golden eyes, who is extremely tall and thin.
Sennatian is a gentle aging shopgirl with blue-black hair and brown eyes.
Tocio is a romantic prostitute with blue-black hair and silver eyes.
Toy is a officious limner with red hair and mismatched eyes, who has pointed ears.
Vyvynne is a bossy lacemaker with silver hair and dark eyes, who is terrified of snakes.
Ytwi is a snippy barmaid with sandy hair and light brown eyes, who keeps a pet owl.

I'm sure I've met all of these!

This is good fun.

I actually used this site (well, not the fantasy char generator, but his detailed character generator), to help put together some of the description for a character of mine when I returned to the game and was feeling lazy.

I did something similar once for a MUD I played on, except instead of using a generator, I made my own, and it fully generated a paragraph of description based on different variables, with optional variables for personality, history, etc. It was actually sort of nifty. And XML.

The detailed char gen is actually pretty cool, might check out when trying to think of a description for my next char.

Which part? Using the generator? Or the one word response?
