Anyways yes I would be interested in a drow language group and I had already asked Sammigurl, Nitefyre and NVN about this. They all said they would enjoy a Drow language group if one was made. So you have 4 more people RKL.
Oh and yes R.A. Salvatore is a bitchin writer and quite a few good games were based off of his books like Icewind Dales and Baulders Gate. Right now I am reading the Silent Blade series (forgot actual name).
Actually, the games are based off the Forgotten Realm Campaign Setting for AD&D when it was under TSR. TSR then turned it into a book series which contain the Drizzt Do'Urden series. After Wizards of the Coast bought TSR they did away with AD&D but kept the book series of the campaign settings like Forgotten Realms and Dragonlance (my personal favorite) which have always and still are a success.
Icewind Dale, Baldur's Gate, and now Neverwinter Nights are based off the original campaign settings for the Forgotten Realms in 2nd Edition AD&D and original concept. R. A. Salvatore's books of Drizzt Do'Urden (I believe he did another Forgotten Realm trilogy that wasn't a Drizzt one)were just based in the already created campaign setting. And Drow was created long before he wrote those books. The only thing that is really original from Salvatore are the characters and the story. The world and about everything else was alredy there. There are also a good 20 authors who write in that series but in my opinion R. A. Salvatore is the best.
Now I really like Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman and their groundbreaking Dragonlance novels which if it wasn't for them then we wouldn't be reading about Drizzt and his companions.
I am hoping someday Drizzt finds his way to Krynn. Supposedly the AD&D worlds were connected by portals. Some say that Tasslehoff Burrfoots has been to the Forgotten Realms. God, I love kender.
I just want to add that Drizzt wasn't created by Salvatore either, Drizzt was a "NPC" created to populate the Forgotten Realms world. His first appearance was on page 33 of the "Running the Realms" booklet that came with the boxset which was printed in 1993. Salvatore is just the most famous of many very talented authors creating works based on the AD&D world.
And all the AD&D worlds are accessable to each other by using "Spelljammers", the AD&D equivilant of spaceships, and if I remember correctly there is an artifact that opens a portal between the different worlds.
By the way, I'd also support a Drow language area.
I always thought that Drizzt was a character created by Salvatore. Thought I read somewhere about that.
Anyways, the artifact you speak of is the Device of Time Traveling that appears in the Legends Trilogy of Dragonlance and then ends up fucking up the Krynn in the War of the Souls Trilogy because Tasslehoff forgot he was suppose to go to Caramon's funeral before he died and instead of be crushed by Chaos he used the device to transport himself forward to the future to see Caramon's funeral which allows the Dark Queen to stay on Krynn while the other gods have to leave.
He was. R.A. Salvatore has been making books for more than 11 years now. Drizzit was not first mentioned in the booklet I know that. There would have been a lawsuit about him by now anyways if he didn't own it.
Salvatore is EMPLOYED by Wizards of the Coast (the company that owns the rights to AD&D and all related products at this time) to write all the books that he writes. Otherwise he couldn't touch Drizzt or a multitude of other chars that he's used in his books. On every one of his books it's clearly indicated that the book is property of WotC.

Gods no. Please no... Drow and Klingon in a game that is NOT based on those books or movies...
Please if you ever do make a whole area of cantr with that as a language, kill me. only if the PD makes it, not if you folks just up and start talking drow ok?

Well first, Kingon was a JOKE. I don't want Kingon in Cantr >.> Lol - Save that for Star Trek.
But the point of Drow is just another language in the game.
Sure, it's a make believe language made by people in a basement one day. But English was made like that too. It just became a REAL language. There's no difference between English, French, Drow, and German for examples - they're all languages. The only two differences are 1) They both have different words (Obviously) and 2) They're real, and Drow is not.
If Drow were a real language used in real life, then I'm sure you'd have a different opinion.
In any case, isn't Cantr a society simulator? Don't different societys use different languages? Some society JUST MIGHT talk Drow
