Takeovers

Postby wasteddave » Fri Apr 02, 2004 4:53 pm

Who has been the most successful at taking over a town?

How you define success may vary but I would consider a takeover more successful if it was done relatively peacefully with few casualties (like Cromwells takeover in Quillanoi). This makes it easier for you turn the people around to supporting you.

Other important characteristics would be the length in which you remain in power and how much difference you actually make to the area once you have taken over.

Does anyone have any personal opinions on this topic?

That is quite a broad topic considering there have been many take overs and I doubt anyone could tell you that because no one has seen them all.

But Richard Cromwell never really had power. He just named himself king and with the help Brungon Shorle locked all the government people in a building. And about four days after this the whole city of Quillanoi rose up against him, slaughter his heavily armed and protected men.

That was probably the most interesting battle in Cantr where a whole hell of a lot of unarmed and poorly protected people were able to to take on heavily armed and protected people and won.

I so wish I could talk about what is happening now considering I have already guess what the outcome of what is happening now will be.

Ryan McConnels coup in Brunoi and Queen Purple in Tircqi managed to stay in power for quite a long time considering they acted alone.

Lad's overtaking of Naron was also succesful, although I suspect that Naron was/is (?) more trouble then a gain to Lad.

Not really. Naron hasn't been much of a problem. Nothing that the Empire couldn't take care of in time.

Badger>

But what have Lad gained from having Naron? :)
They have lost quite a few soldiers in different types of massacres and liberation attempts over the years...

LMAO! If you were in Naron, you'd realize that Naron has done more good in this war than the whole of the rest of the empire. =O The Grand Army sucks ass compared to the Naron Guard, I'll stop there.

They have gained Rice. Lots and lots of rice. Oh and a forest full of violent animals.

But that had nothing to do with Naron. The Black Wolf was from Xiria and the pirates were from Alenz Hills. If they hadn't attacked Naron then they would have attacked Lad. So Naron provided security, manpower (spawn city), as well as resources, and access to the sea.

Nah, today we get like no new spawns at this point. Though a bunch of em were well afforded to profit Sjotich *hits Lt. Xanith over the head* oh yeah, and in more recent times, the successes Naron has had are paramount in its like, via military and sometimes culturally important ideas, along with a well established and ever developing new language. =P

Cool stuff, I love RPing there. :o

Naron, and the whole Lad Empire, lost their greatest cultura treasure in the demise of Lorraine Phoenix.
The Emperor let her decide her own title, and thus she would have been the "Coordinator of Culture and Holiday Festivities" as well as one of the leaders in the Department of the Intellectus.

But the people in Lad treated her so very very insulting, so she fled to the enlightened people fighting Lad...and was killed by them in one of their outposts.
Her last words? "Finally, some civilized gentlemen" or something of that kind

Yes, I actually laughed when I found out that they had killed her.
Her clothes were torn to shreds from cheetas in the Naron Forest, General Gartaf had tried to kill her...and when she finally thought she had found safety away from the horrible Lad Empire that had treated her so badly she was killed by the people she thought would be her saviours :)
