This "find out IC" thing is driving me crazy.
That is shall come out to pure guesses, or knowledge about programming, about these things makes no sense either IC or OOC.
Something that might seem obvious to the programmers can look very strange to a player...

The question is, who's more abnormal, the player or the staffer? *thinks deeply*
@Trage, you have the biggest post average as of late, 210 posts in 7 days, *insane poster, cough*
Hence, I guess due to Trage, we are more abnormal in our ways? *dons titanium sword* Who be arguing my point?

For the record. I don't know what the secret is and will not look unless told it is broken which is a little hard to do if no one knows what it is.
It makes sense to whoever put it in, and whoever approved it, and whoever thought of it. That is usally more than a single person. If you go though the trouble of an experiment that does not work THEN it is a sign it does not make sense. If you try to guess here and guess wrong and then are told the right answer then you are not risking anything.
I have an idea what the solution is and am unlikely I will ever see it. Many land lubber character I have.

I know how this docking of ships work. I think Jos or someone notified Resources about it or I read somewhere. Can't remember. But from what I read it makes perfect sense. The point of Cantr is for your characters to discover. The only reason why I think anyone knows about the crowbar is because someone made one, walked into a locked door, and then posted what happened on the forum and then everyone else used that knowledge. I believe that crowbars wouldn't be all that major throughout Cantr if this hadn't happened. In fact, most of my characters don't know what a crowbar is and what it does and those that do learned it from another character. The only real inventor character that I have had is James Whitmore currently and I had him build 5 machines until he finally figured out how to turn silk into clothing.
So if your character does have happen to dock with another ship then please don't blabber it all over the forum until it is at least common knowledge like a hammer or trowel or buildings.

Some characters might want to keep it a secret. For examples, pirates wouldn't want to give away the tricks of their trade.
And none of my characters know yet. My last sailor character (the multiple personality Richard Connors/Weasf Hercva) was killed by rabid animals on an unpopulated island he discovered.

That's not a good idea.. o.o; What if it's like a code word for "stick a red hot poker between my legs?" Or worse-- O.O!

Well...I suggest that a docking process with other ships is properly implemented, so that you don't have to be an inventor to figure it out.
I don't see the realism IC to try to pull up next to another ship, but no knowing how to do it...in my eyes it is just silly.
(Yes, I know Cantr isn't always realistic, but I don't see why things can't work in a realistic way...it would make it more fun for the majority)

The big problem is most of cantr socioty are uneducated. Time is short for a cantr person and to build up to a certain level of tech takes a long time. Most people have sometype of enducation however fundimental. In cantr you don't get that you are born at 20 with no prehistory no memories. Nothing. *shakes head* I even left my home with some cloths.
Somehow you strayed and lost your way,
and now there'll be no time to play,
no time for joy,
no time for friends
- not even time to make amends.
You are too naïve if you do believe life is innocent laughter and fun.
