Theory about the fate of our characters after Re-Lauch
I was just thinking, will we be allowed to RP that the past 3 months of more of downtime really happened. It would be like a mass event that happened in-game like a Great Sleep. As we know many players won't return to the game (I know some IRL who said they wont anyway) and this will cause a mass death of starving characters in the weeks proceeding the re-launch.
So I was thinking in terms of RP could our charries 'wake up' and when they look around they see the environment has 'aged' (grass grew over built-up areas etc). Then over time they would notice some of their friends would slowly die-off in their sleep(if any of course).
Would they have to treat this as what was 3-4 months for us a a blink of an eye and just accept the fate of their friends as normal or would they see themselves waking up before others from this Great Sleep and see others never awake at all?

I think they froze the game so no time has passed in-game from the time it went down to when it comes back up. So, we'd have to just go along with it and accept that all of these people are just randomly dying. Any character seen to be acting strangely and referring to a long period of sleep would make no sense since no time has elapsed in the game world

No time has passed in-game, so no time has passed.

Doesn't mean you can't act like it has. Your character may be called a lunatic, however, by the local populace. Maybe you can start a cult... or maybe not.
Good luck with that if you try.

[activity]
[Hacker causes Cantr to go down for three months.]
[Cantr comes back up. Activity resumes, but people have suddenly fallen asleep.]
Lunatic says: "Hey, everybody was sleeping for three months but woke back up just a few minutes ago!"
Sensible person says: "No.....some people are asleep right now. It happens. There was no three-month period of everybody sleeping."
Lunatic says: "Oh, you're just saying that because you don't remember. But I do. *nods rigorously*"
Sensible person says: "You're crazy. It's still Day 3084."
Snick says: "What does this have to do with anything? I say throw him in an asylum and be done with it."
You see Lunatic being dragged to Asylum. (Snick [last name edited out], Sensible person)

You can't realistically RP the downtime, but the consequences of it will likely become evident to our little marionettes in the cantr world. A mass of characters will probably die over the next two cantr years, more so than usual. At the same time, we'll probably see an activity increase from the remaining players who've been itching to play for three months. Maybe we'll see some power shifts, or communities pulling together, or schisms. Who knows? Things won't be the same though. But this can be a good thing. The next couple IG-years will be an interesting thing to see.

My character in The Order will most likely comment on it, as I'm sure some of the others will, but make no claims to really knowing what happened. We did it before for the last minor downtimes, simply noting that something very odd had happened and trying to work out what.
I know some people may not like characters exploring glitches in game mechanics, but I've found its one of the best, and most enjoyable, ways of really giving any in game religion a bit more body and depth. By taking external issues and glitches that affect characters and then trying to find ways to explain them in game you can come up with some really interesting theories
I can possibly foresee a little bit of panic occuring in The Order after this one

Most of my characters will notice, probably.
It will be interesting to see how many people wake up and interact and notice, though. Especially in big towns like Klojt and decent-size organisations like The Order.

Re: Theory about the fate of our characters after Re-Lauch
I think the hardest part about the Great Sleep, or whatever you want to call this, is getting back in-character and figuring out what hte heck was going on last.
In-game, no time has passed for the characters, but I know it will take me a good day or three to browse through the transcripts and get my own IRL brain back on-track as to who is who and doing what.
So, forgive any initial oddness for all characters, I think, while they get back in-character properly.
of course, I'm also going away this weekend visiting family BEFORe the big holiday, so I'll miss the first few days anyway.

Re: Theory about the fate of our characters after Re-Lauch
This is exciting, but I think things will be pretty easy to get back into the swing. At lot of my characters are based off of story ones I've drawn years before and just decided to place in cantr, so... it'll be easy for me. On the other hand, I won't be playing the game as much as the past years. XD Working two jobs, school, but I'll always find time.
but doesn't mean they'll fall into a death sleep... sigh, it's gunna be very sad to see who passes away between tomorrow and in the next 2 cantr years. So we active players gotta do what we can.
Exciting.
Exciting.

I don't think anything should be RP'd although I can understand many chars waking up a little disoriented and feeling out of it for a few days. It'll take a little work for me to get back into character with a few of mine. And, of course, I'm worried about a few certain chars not waking up...

Should I wake mine up or let them sleep a few days longer?
