The Sexual Physiology Poll

Thought this would be a fun poll topic, since I've encountered all three stated theories in-game. There is nothing inherently "adult content" about this poll, so let's please keep it that way.

I would have to assume that Cantr characters have the 'bits', and people can be bashful about showing them.
but sterility would seem to be the key phrase.
Personally... sexual encounters in Cantr scare the shit out of me... and i never know how to deal with them 'IC' so to speak... but definitely, I see 'people' as having the necessary parts.

I'm not sure if I should choose 1 or 2... but I think it's more like 2.
Although I'm yet to see a female character going PMS-bitchy every 25 days or so

More like every 12 hours if you consider that a year's only got 20 days.

That is assuming, though, that Cantr years are twelve months like Earth years. But we already know that can't happen because earth has approximately 345 more days in a year than Cantr, and a twenty-day Cantr year is shorter than the generalized 30-day earth month. If months for Cantr were implemented to be at least similar to the concept of earth years, a month would last two days, and a week would last four Cantr hours. Therefore, if the calendar system for Cantr held the same concept as the. Earth calendar, every female until they hit their fifties should be (more) crabby for approximately four Cantr-hours every two days.
But that's off-topic now.

Well out of the men who have sex, all of them have been ejaculating as far as I've seen so they're obviously shooting something, even if it was blanks. Meanwhile I haven't seen anyone rp menstruation (although crabbiness occasionally occurs, probably due to female players having that time of the month and letting it reflect on their characters). Cantrian men have testicles, but either the women do not have ovaries or they're vestigial. Not sure about the presence of a uterus.
I also believe that Cantrians exhibit different levels of development. Some might not have sexual organs or they might be non-functional or only partially developed.

I saw a female character having a menstrual cycle once.

And how did that work out for them?
No, nevermind...I don't want to know.
But it would be interesting roleplay.....maybe. *ponders*
A man in his thirties says: "Well this is no good."
A woman in her twenties says: "You've no idea how not-good it is!! *looks pissed*"
A man in his thirties says: "*he looks at the woman oddly* What's wrong?"
A woman in her twenties says: "You're all out to get me. *she sobs into her shirt*"
A man in his thirties says: "What did I do?!"
A woman in her twenties says: "*she pulls her tunic down as low as she can, but a small pile of a red liquid can be seen between her feet*"
A man in his thirties says: "*he notices the red liquid and staggers a little* Is everything alright?"
A woman in her twenties says: "No! Nothing's alright! I'm bleeding, dammit! Can't you get it through your think skull?!"
A man in his thirties says: "*he staggers back, apparently shocked* I'm sorry, ma'am, I didn't know... *he looks awkward and slowly inches towards the Town Hall*"
You see a man in his thirties leaving the central area of Town, entering Town Hall.Okay, maybe not.

My males are pre-pubescent in terms of functionality. I see no need to introduce that ick factor.

I agree, I've always been uncomfortable about explicit sexuality in-game. Especially since I have no idea of the age of the player behind the character, so that creates a very high "ick-factor" for me.
But even if I were assured that the player were a legal adult... it's still not something I'm all that comfortable with.

Not only the age of the player, but the gender can affect it as well, if you know what I mean. It doesn't have as bad a psychological effect, as far as I have noticed, but it'd still be odd to be roleplaying that kind of scene with the character whose player is of your gender when you are straight.
But asking for the gender of the char's player IG is just creepy.

it's hard for me to pick an option, i mean they are fundamentally like us except... they spawn like... it's airborn and occasionally a mature one pops down at age 20 or out of the ground or however we imagine them 'spawning' so... i guess a man and a woman can... and love is in the air for 20 years... lol
only 2 of my characters have ever gone for it, each only once, prable because of thier personality.. no not necesarily pervs but, hard to explain. so in over 6 years, only 2 occasions, that shows how interested i am in it

But it's not the players having sex, it's the characters. That's the difference between cybering and co-writing a story, and I can't emphasize enough that Cantr is about writing a story. If we ever find a player that's obviously just trolling around for cyber sex, we shut them down quickly.
I have a girl married to a guy played by a guy.
I have 2 guys married to a girl played by a girl.
I have one girl dating a man played by a girl.
If I consider any of these arrangements potentially uncomfortable, it's the two in the middle, as they leave open the greatest potential for OOC misunderstandings.

Other. Here's my theory:
There are:
- sexual organs: these are used only to have sex. There are no hormones and the characters do not feel the need to have sex. Some like to have sex, others never do that. It's more like a hobby.

- reproductive organs: All the time (but in secret) Cantrians produce pollens and lay eggs. Pollens fertilize the eggs and the offspring emerges from the egg as a twenty-year old human whose sexual organs are random. Reproductionwise Cantrians are hermaphrodites (two characters of the same sex can produce a newspawn, right?)
I don't think there is a gender-based social distinction in Cantr. The only difference between genders I can think of is the choice of clothes which reflects RL conventions.

It's not the polyandry that worries me, it's the CRB for playing both of the husbands in that relationship. </intentionalmisunderstanding>
Sorry, the lojbanist in me made me do it...
