Towns dying out after conflict??

I've seen two towns die out completely following a major conflict with another faction.. think Vel'Nora vs Clan, or DoUrden vs Sjoftich Hills north..
You could probably even say Kwor vs Blackrocks. After TBR (always thought that stood for The Blackrocks, not Tribe Blackrock) left, Kwor died, very rapidly.
Everyone just stops playing after the conflict. Wtf?

Prominent and/or active people in those towns got killed?

No! That's the worst part! In both scenarios, (not sure about Kwor) but everyone, I mean everyone lived. The enemy was wiped out or defeated.
I'm going to guess, based on notes / interactions / leaders I've seen, but I don't think Kwor's leaders were killed by Blackrocks, nor was Kwor's society. I think it destroyed itself.
Something is amiss. :/

Well, if you've spent months to defeat an enemy you might find yourself without a purpose when you finally succeed. You then either find a new goal or you die of boredom.
I'm just guessing though, I don't have characters in those places.

The only faction from Kwor that fought the Blackrocks was the Seafaring Guild. After Andur O'Shan's (leader of the guild) player unsubscribed for personal reasons, the remaining Seafarer's left Kwor in search of...who knows. It was most likely their heartbroken new leader's (O'Shan's lover) desire to leave behind the pain of the familiar. The other factions that fought were the DeDannans and the Karnon Navy (plus various unorganized rabble from around the island that joined them). This group didn't fare so well, as they weren't as tactically minded as O'Shan and lost a lot of important people (at least one Senator, and probably more, iirc - although the General responsible for the massacre lived). Karnon -did- die after that, although it seems the DeDannons fared better, but are still an endangered species.
I place Kwor's official date of death when Christine finally gave the town up for lost and sailed off. Now it would be firmly in Polish control if they chose to assert their numbers over the few English speaking traders still there. Noniwrok will become a Polish island. It's only a matter of time.

Agreed. I didn't have any chars in those conflicts, but I've seen chars struggle with boredom/purpose after they survived those battles. One of my current chars is going through some of that after a minor conflict ended. I'm sure that's not the only reason, but I'd guess it does play a role.

All the Polish people left Kwor. It's pretty silent but it has been more dead in the past.

What happened to all the Polish people in Kwor anyways? I remember there being 20 of them or so. Then in a period of a day or two, they all left. My character was inside for some of the time, so I didn't see them leave exactly, but I assume that is what happened.

They had several boat building projects. I assume they sailed away. Or I know at least some of them sailed away. Some may have traveled on foot to other locations such as the forest or Kwor Beach.

They sailed away. Twice.

Honestly, I think it was because a large number of those people defined themselves by those conflicts. It takes a completely different kind of leader to run a community than to wage a war, and the quality peace-time leaders are sadly lacking... hence towns stagnate.
At least 4 of my 6 characters are suffering in formerly great towns now under poor leadership.

I have a character trying to get Kwor running and a character trying to get Karnon running. In the case of Karnon, I've been trying for a very long time, and there aren't many people to work with. It was an epic dying, after the war. During the war, partly, but the sleeping afterward hit much harder. Three people of that time that are in the Republic are still alive, plus from another character I know Desdamona has been off on her own. There haven't been many new people.
And I agree with Surly. Wars are interesting.

That's kind of depressing that Karnon has died out almost, Rofl. My char had big plans for it when he was in the senate, the war kind of slowed down those plans. Sad to hear that it is no longer thriving.

You can also add KDS region too is pretty dead after that conflict, compared to what it once was.

That War was an embarrassment to Karnon. 4 Blackrocks pwnt about 30 other people because of 1) sleepiness, seemed like a quarter of the troops died over several days on the gallon because they wouldn't wake up and eat their healing food, 2) lack of clear leadership. Woody needed to step up and direct more instead of constantly seeking second opinions. and 3) boneheaded strategy, parking the boat and letting them kill you doesn't work well.
What happened With DoUrden and Sjoftich Hills north? I've seen DoUrden (Brinks based) still around in the game, a watered down pansified version of it's old self, but it still exists, did SHn die?
