Ending a forum account

Postby 88302 » Fri Mar 26, 2010 6:25 pm

So, I've had quite the morning and have put a bit of thought into this Maybe it's still early enough to call this a rash decision, but you can expect me to stick to it, either way.

Beg your pardon if this is in poor taste to write, but I've got a few concerns as to how the system works. Earlier this morning an incident regarding possible cheating was reported to PD/GAB (I'm not sure as it wasn't myself reporting). My email was attached to this report without my having been asked. Does that bother me? No. Though, I would have preferred to have been asked rather than been made aware of this after the fact. I have no problem with someone adding a source to their credibility or the case they present when they report something to the game's management. I firmly believe anyone has the right to report something they're concerned over. Whether this concern is valid or not, and how it should be handled should be left up to the appropriate authorities.

Now, maybe it was testing the waters- but I'm currently under the impression I as attached to more than the report itself, but when seeking the opinion of others to see if it was a valid concern and therefore worth reporting. Again, I understand someone wanting to strengthen their case- but if you're concerned, I think it should be reported regardless of the impression you get from other players.

Since this reporting, I've been interrogated. Not by the PD or GAB or any other form of staff, but by the player the report addressed. I don't know if that means some staff member decided to leak information- or that such a complete looking picture was painted by msn/pm gossiping. Either way, I'm not impressed. Regardless of who did the reporting- I don't feel a player should find out who reported them, ever, let alone so quickly.

I understand the interrogator was looking out for their well being in the game and the reputation that surrounds that- but I don't feel I should be put to through the Spanish Inquisition so that I'm unable to enjoy my breakfast.

The game was designed to be anonymous for a reason, and for our own amusement some of us have left the notion behind. Reporting should remain anonymous, so far as I am concerned, and zero tolerance for anything less. The forums, the emails, facebook and instant messaging- it's all contributed to this amazing sense of community. There truly are some remarkable individuals that play this game.

However, as is true for most everything in life; the good comes with the bad. For the longest time I've felt I was able to balance things so that I was able to meet people through the game and talk to players without it affecting my gaming experience. Now though, I'm tired of how much work it takes. So my apologies if this is considered to have been rude or offensive- or if it violates some code that I'm unaware of, that wasn't my intention.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to my gaming experience. I'll be leaving the forums now. I plan to continue and enjoy the game, quietly and anonymously. For those who already have my contact information, and people who have become friends- I'm not going to cut you out of the picture, but, if you bring up cantr in a conversation, I won't be replying. Please don't test me on this.

I totally agree and support anyone who just wants to play cantr and ignore all ooc forums, msn ect. If that's how you want to enjoy it, That's your decision and I understand why people might think that too much ooc ruins the game. I claim no knowledge of incident addressed so im not going to comment.

Overall, Just keep enjoying cantr and like anything although it has its ups and downs I hope the ups are worth bearing the downs for

Sorry to see you go Sam however I would like to say, since I was involved in this whole thing - nobody was mentioned as to who did what reporting or how. There was just a small enough group involved that it was (apparently) obvious to the person reported. Sorry, it happens. We do our best but in a situation like this, when so few are involved, there isn't much we can do.

Honestly, I'm surprised you still use the forum Sam.

I recommend people not talking about anything specific relating to their chars to other players anyway. It vastly improves the playing experience, in my opinion.
