Maybe this is just a vent, but perhaps others out there feel the same about there characters and want to join in the whinging.
My travellers NEVER find any interesting towns, all cultures are virtually identical and conversation the same.
My warriors NEVER find any satisfying combat. Not that combat is really that fun anyway, unless it has RP effects.
My town citizens are SOOOO sick of grinding on projects. The least fun of all is gathering. Yuck.
Most town's RP, well its mostly quite flat.
Im bored of clothes, vehicles, houses, weapons, all that. Not that aquistition is that much fun in any game.
Yes, there are still moments of fun RP, with certain characters. I wish those sort of characters were more common. And I'm enjoying playing my town leaders, its quite satisfying. Hopefully the lull doesnt last too long :/ Maybe some of my charries should start some kind of trouble, or I should try and start some new ones with bigger than life personalities.
Anyone else have boredom gripes? Been smelting iron in a dark room for six years? Or want to flame me for whinging?

Re: The grind/blandness attack......
I've been smelting iron in a dark room for 20 years, but I like it that way.
I've learned some time ago to stop fretting over "nothing going on" and fully enjoy myself when something does happen. Things happen in their own time, and characters that travel constantly in search of "something" will never find it, unless that something is being enslaved. "Nothing" is going on in my real life 90% of the time, so I now view Cantr as no different in that respect.

I find that if nothing unique is going on, then i'm partially to blame for it. If i feel that is a character i can get into, i try to change the situation by making something happen. If i can't get into the character i just either let them die or move onto another place. I typically don't accept my virtual life being boring and bland.

This is me, right there, however being the instigator gets old when you are the only person doing it. When your character is the only one striving for some form of conflict, internal or external, that isn't about Cantr staples you'll get bored fast.
Cantr's blandness comes down to its player base and a horrible double standard among players. When someone/thing new DOES actually show up there is this giant rage fit on the forums about that one guy with a dog tail. It turns into an OOC fiasco and people stop giving you what you want, which is "something new."
Again, player base double standard about wanting and giving.
I remember the dude that spawned in Blackrock Forest talking about aliens and what not.. now my character called him dumb but I was amused. It was new (to me) via Cantr and it didn't break the CR as it was nothing more than a belief. I think the character died, however, do to a lot of OOC noise from fellow Cantr players.
Note: Anyone who agrees with the OP in some manner, even minor, and then later complains about "destructive original RP", I'm linking your post from this thread to the one you are bitching in.
