How do you PM

Click on the little button below a users post, or go to where it says "0 new messages" and then "Compose message" and type in the users nickname in the box.

Am I the only one who finds it slightly suspicious that a first post was to ask how to PM?

Clever bot.

He does this so he doesn't get banned. You'll notice he doesn't have any links.

Once he's an 'accepted' member, and not a spammer, he'll start posting links or have links in his profile.

These will help assist in bringing his website up in Google ranks.

Or maybe they really just wanted to know because they were trying to figure the forums out before they start posting.

Sure, that's one scenario, but I've administrated a lot of forums and also run a few, I've seen a lot of spam and have spoken to people who market online using spam methods and I know how intricate some spam can be.

And it's also pretty clever to use a text that's so common you can't search for it in Google, at least not if you want any relevant results.

Exactly.. that way the spam bot can't be detected and goes 'under the radar', it is accepted as a formidable member of the community.

I have actually had some fun researching how advanced these bots can work. I have created a small program that I have been screwin around with based on those AI chat bots that seem to remember you and all that.

His nick contains gasaway, surely it would be a great coincidence if a bot named like that happened on a Cantr forum when there are a couple of gasaways in Cantr. Although, if the one in Cantr was also a bot, that would explain a lot why his conversations don't make any sense. Maybe he is a chatbot.
