I was wondering if we could talk trade rates?
Is it considered bad form to talk trade rates on the forum, if so then lock this thread. If not I was wondering what people charge in Days Of Work for manufactured items. Example: Telescope.

In all honesty, it depends on what that item is worth to both who made it and who sold it. Some places may sell it at a higher cost due to importing the resources needed for it and so on.
If you really want to figure this out, you can do the item cost yourself by looking through the wiki and doing the math. The end result is a base estimate at its raw value,

Yeah I do that now I was just hoping there was like a cheat sheet out there somewhere for the base estimates. Then atleast you can haggle a little on the final outcome.

Just ask for a ridiculous amount and see how much the buyer is ready to pay. Then settle in the middle.

If there were, that would be a CRB, imo. If you found one in-game, the more power to your character.

There is a calculation of the dows of a telescope in the respective article. Everyone with a pocket calculator could do it so I see no real harm in it.
How much you charge for one dow though is entirely the business of your character. Knowing what other people charge wouldn't help you a bit, since they don't have to sell it to your customer. (Or however the roles are allocated.)

The Wiki is a cheat sheet, We can't use that? How would I rp figuring things out with out using the wiki? It would be way to time consuming to use trial and error to get the exact amounts for the projects, on all components, for say a telescope. I dont want to break any rules, so even asking how I can do it without breaking the rules, is in fact breaking the rules if I use it in game. My head hurts.

I just dealt with that mentality and easily settled for half of what the person wanted. He feels like he didnt get that good a deal and I think he did. That's the sign of a good deal right? If both parties leave a little unhappy.

Oh, you went and edited the wiki article after I did? It might provide more information now but it also got messier. Remember that a ) is also a punctuation sign so it needs to be followed by a space. The days of work were just for making the components, you can't include stuff like producing aluminum and steel since those can be produced in more or less efficient ways. You use 2 days of smelting to produce the aluminized brass case, so I have no idea where the 6 came from.

Yes you can use the wiki, but if you found that sufficient, you wouldn't be asking here for someone to hand you a "cheat sheet." Your inquiry implies a desire for more information than the wiki gives. If I made a complicated excel spreadsheet that calculated travel times and things into pricing and I gave it to you, it would be a CRB because your character didn't do the work that went into the spreadsheet. See what I mean?

I know, I added 2 days for the steel but like you said it depends on what you used to make it and you have to make the copper too. I just added another two for that also. Cause you got to gather the resources needed and then the actual work to produce it. I guess I could of left that part alone but 2 days seemed really low to me. I was just gonna try and stick with the actual resources you can gather and the hard numbers. Go ahead and change it if you want.

We're calculating DOWs on the wiki now? I don't like that at all. Leave it to the individual user please.

Re: I was wondering if we could talk trade rates?
Okay, I understand I was looking for a cheat sheet because I have no experience typing stuff up like that. I am a computer tard. Whenever I try something in game with the notes it comes out all wrong and real confusing. Plus I am just to lazy to do it by hand cause I always lose my notes. I find the Wiki sufficent enough and should just be happy with that resource. About the DOW's I will refrain from doing that in the future. I'll just try to write something up for my characters.

Thanks. DOW is a subjective concept. The wiki should be for objective information only.
