What are everyone's ideas about animals in Cantr, and feelings about the animals so far?

I think it is a great idea! I just didn't like the animals attacking in mass w/out any provocation (ie, snakes in the desert) and killing people w/out us being able to hit them more than once a day. It wasn't really very nice.

i love the animals ,i think you should be able to domesticate some though like horses and dogs

That we be really good if you good tame them then for a horse you could use it for transport and it could carry more and also you get an extra market making a harness and saddle bags which is were you need cows, you kill the cow you get meat and its hide then you can turn that hide in to leather through a process or other of which I'm not sure of.

I agree that some animals should be able to be domesticated. Horses were first used by those brave enough to catch one and "break" it. Cows and other food animals could give rise to new businesses like a ranch or slaughter house. Domesticated animals would also allow other low tech vehicles like carts, chariots, coachs, etc., and would provide transportation for the areas that haven't the resources to make cars and fleets of bikes. Overall, domestication of animals would expand the RP posiblities.

Yes, I agree as well. The domestication of animals would provide for new opportunities for RP. As mentioned, it would provide for new businesses, transportation and even personal enjoyment.

How would you envision this domestication taking place?

Perhaps as a project, similar to lock picking. Something like trying to capture the animal and your success will depend on chance. Something like that.

Huh. I see. And what animals could you domesticate? Or would some just be harder to domesitcate than others? And when domesticated, what is a list of things that you could do with them? How would you continue to control them?

I'd think you could pull them like notes or get on them like cars if they're big enough. And some animals would be harder to domesticate than others, even of the same species. Maybe some would be impossible. But you should definitely get to domesticate a parrot and tell it what to say.

Probably getting ahead of myself, but couldn't you train an aminal to hunt? That would be a project and a half! First catch an animal, then domesticate it and then train it. Then the meat comes rolling in!

Taming animals is definitely something I'd like to see as well, but for the immediate future I think we will work on the basic functionality of animals before adding in more features with more bugs to deal with
I certainly would welcome any more ideas, comments or suggestions in regards to animals too.

It would be fun if all the things you could do with an animal, and alot of how to train them aswell was kept unknown to most players. It would be fun messing up sometimes, and much more realistic and challenging. I have no idea how to accolmplish this, though......

It would be fun to be able to teach animals to do tricks and such... that would then open up a new business such as animal shows, going to watch animals to tricks...lol..

If people wanted to roleplay wanting to see it...

Taming animals sounds good, but I agree the basic functinality needs to got right before we move on.

At the moment animals attacking depends on a probability, just a single value that isn't variable.

That value could be the base feriocity value, then we could apply further values to it, like if one of their pack or group is attacked it makes it more likely they will attack that attacker (perhaps there ought to be a probability of the animal running away in response as well, fight or flight response, as I understand it, now animals only move if they "want" to go somewhere, and it isn't affected by violence in their surroundings)

We could put in other variables as well (time? maybe some animals are more cranky at midnight than others?)
