Cantr: The Matrix

Tonight's food for thought is this: Imagine playing AS YOU in Cantr. Allow me to explain. You'd spawn a new character in Cantr, name him after yourself, and wake up and act as if you were 20 years old and appeared in the Cantr world in real life. What would you do, if your thoughts became digitalised and your actions were constrained to the limitations set out by the PHP programming? You'd probably freak out, or maybe you'd tell everyone of the real world, and where you come from, and how everything is so similar yet so... green.
And what if a player actually did this? They role-played a character who takes on the persona of themselves?
Would it be shunned by other players through their characters, or would characters embrace it and be genuinely curious as to this 'other world'? I guess the answer lies in how well the player translates themselves into a Cantr world.
Would it work?

I think that might be a very hard core CRB.
Money says if it WASN'T a CRB you'd get reported for it anyway.
If you were that character then you'd be killed suddenly by a force unseen!

Or if PD didn't kill you everyone around you would shout "He/she is crazy" and attack you with everything they could find.

Nothing to stop your character believing in another world though and if that world turns out to be the one we live in then thats ok as well I think.

I made a character based on myself once, on another game. I quit playing, though, because it was so boring.

Lol! When your life becomes so boring in a game that you stop playing...you know there's something wrong. XD

Then I think you need to pay up

Hmmmm, see I think it's a grey area. If it was role-played properly, and I role-played as if I was actually a little Cantrian who spawned in the game (I'm almost 20 anyway) who truly believed he has woken in a dream or something, then I think it'd be alright.
If you've ever had a Cantr dream where you were the character, this is it coming to life! You can pretend, in-game, that you come from another world.
Eventually, I'm guessing your character would settle down and assimilate into it's society and accept that he/she is screwed and will never see their family and friends again.
IMPORTANT: You shouldn't have any awareness of the game Cantr or the Cantr forums, I reckon. You can't say 'hey they were discussing this one the forums'.. instead, you'd copy across your PERSONALITY and limited memories of the technology and of the world.
Hmm! Might try this tonight, if I get an okay from a player's department.
(use a name other than your own if you do this..)
Should be fun and easier to role-play.

First of all, I'd be embarrassed about being naked. I would probably try to cover myself with something. Might use leaves if in a forest, since I would assume leaves exist where there are trees. Might also use notes. If there were dead bodies around, I would be initially creeped out by them and wouldn't loot them for clothes unless the other people around seemed to be all sleepers. I would be likely to enter buildings and pick up items from the ground. I might notice the laws note if there wasn't an awful clutter on the ground, but if there were a lot of notes, I would just scan them for something interesting. I would try to look for prepared food and wouldn't try eating things like raw potatoes until I got hungry and there was nothing else to consider. I wouldn't know how to use most machinery or manufacture complicated items. I think I would initially hide from people, especially if they were carrying weapons and/or if they were clothed and I was naked.
Actually this would make an interesting experiment in Cantr. Although I used to have a character who thought she was a space explorer from another planet, so it would be a repetition of that on some levels.

I always loved the Book of Jos, which explained all of Cantr's existence.
I'm pretty sure it's fine so long as you just seem crazy. People in our RL make up fictional worlds all the time and swear that the places they imagine are real. Some of the stuff they say is so unique.
But the CRB thing is used so loosely, I wouldn't be surprised if you got shot down.

I really enjoyed reading this for a couple of reasons.. It really made me realise that to play yourself in game, you have to see the game in an entirely different way.. I personally wouldn't hunt animals, or at least big ones.. and only AFTER I realise all meat is the same would I eat it (cooked of course). (what I'm saying there, is, I wouldn't eat meat from a rat, but when I realise in-game that it's all the same, I wouldn't care).
I don't think I'd attack anyone, and if I were stronger than average, I'd probably use that to my advantage.
